Also irritating is the bit of "at least they had a disclaimer for it! most AI artists don't or wouldn't." That should be the bare minimum of decency--letting people you skimmed someone else's homework on your paper on cancer. Like, shit literally doesn't result in new developments.

I'm a musician and sometimes I am just scrolling youtube music and find a song...that happens to have a disclaimer of "AI was used in the production of the cover art and music." Shit gets me riled up. I'd love to have been wrong before.

Dude, I was saying stuff about this back in like 2020 when AI art was only recently starting to get more popular. I said "dude, its not going to be just art--its going to be creative stuff, too. If we don't defend the pen and paper artists, we'll lose VA and music to AI, too."

No matter what you actually do, the Alex Li school of marketing has found more popularity because anyone can do it. It doesn't matter how much it actually works, the fact that it worked at least once on a high-profile VA means that everyone and their uncle Vinny wants a piece.

The influencer approach is still viable on all levels, but it is simply the safest option to do original things or basically "non-affiliated" comic dubs (aka, dubbing stuff for shits and giggles, memes, webtoon stuffs with permission, etc.).

You may be thinking something like, "if that's true, explain TFS and the jojo's abrdiged!" etc.. Same idea goes for Genshin being a non-union project that happens to be chock-full of union VAs (ignoring Global Rule #1): Its easier to do things when you're already up there.

Specifically, in the anime industry, from what I've gathered looking from the outside in (and having watched podcasts/forums/seminars from some high-profile VAs), fandubs or "excessive fanboy-ing" is bad for reputation and business. I am under the impression that funimation takes it personally.
