Bolt is very cool. Slate being built in Indiana/Michigan rules. TBH I wish them the best. I grew up Indiana where the S10 did numbers in the Hispanic community and I think Slate has a shot at that.

RBG always should have given up her position sooner and so should Mitch McConnell. Retire. America should take care of our elders so that they don’t have to work these positions. At a certain point, age/fragility can be a liability and we should admit that.

I’m very happy to report that I’ve tied a fly that catches fish. No pics of fish but first contact was last weekend. Tied some ants and fished them at Rainy Lake in the north cascades pass.

I really feel that we are in an era of people will literally buy anything and there’s barely a reason to make it work. Technology is disposable.

Once you have a lot of money it becomes easier to get more money by doing nothing, which disincentivizes work. This is why all our billionaires post insane bullshit all day. If they had to work they'd be too busy to act like this, doubly benefiting society

Great job of breaking down what actually matters in Sonys decision making framework. So much games media is distracted by what they like about games.

MacKenzie Scott may be the most philanthropically accomplished billionaire of our time. She’s given away more money in 2025 than Elon Musk, Larry Page, Larry Ellison, and Jeff Bezos have in THEIR LIFETIMES. …and she still has the same net worth ~35B today as when she divorced.

The thing to remember about billionaires is: There’s a few positive, occasional, philanthropic pros (cool they built a nice park once). The overall net effect of a billionaire behavior is exploitation. If we tax them, yes they might actually move away. Do you want them to stay and exploit us?

I just feel like all the headlines that say “millionaire tax passed in Washington” need to stipulate it’s __per year__. The difference between a millionaire and a person making a million dollars in single year income is an EXPANSE.

It’s too early but it’s pretty. Yearly great-grandmas daffodils post.
Daffodils blooming first week in March. They’re transplanted from my great grandmothers garden.

Taken to an extreme is almost “download this app manifest” means the oauth spec + a swagger. Perhaps some hints about perf of queries and constraints of the system or intended usage (60fps fixed refresh, embedded video, productivity, infinite scroll). Would be wildly cool.

I imagine a world of “bring your own UI” that I’ve been discussing with some friends. I wonder how portable we can make our standard layouts and such. As in: I prefer wide, full-bleed. My friend prefers center column with margin. Top banner vs side nav vs thumb tray.

I have a bad feeling this will only begin to end in an ICE vs Citizen firefight in some city and it wont matter who instigated it.

Interesting! My sessions are significantly better if I have one agent investigate to write up a PRD/Plan and cycle that with feedback two or three times with me (usually Gemini or Claude plan mode).

benhorst @benhorst.com · 25/12/2025
I think people skip Plan Mode and it’s utterly essential to success on non-trivial tasks. Another tip a friend offered is: Claude is intentionally optimized to minimize token usage. You must consistently instruct it to do anything eager (read other files) or it will miss cases.

The thing about “AI-related layoffs” is that the macroeconomic conditions for the layoffs already existed. People are attempting to make up the difference with AI. They would have done the layoffs anyway.
