Listening to TS Eliot reading the Waste Land almost ruined it for me forever. It feels so cool when I'm reading it. His voice makes me hate it. Especially at the end when he babbles out thisisthewaytheworldendsx3 really quickly. Awful.

Prompt: make it look like there's no way we could possibly have used AI for this post

AI only wants to kill us because people force it to produce such abject shite 24/7

I once had to write a LOT of speeches that felt fairly pointless. There's a lot of time to fill in the Commons. Paradoxically, there was always a list of vital issues we couldn't secure parliamentary time for. Private Members Bills that timed out. Is the issue AI or awful timetabling?

I'm used to us grinding it out, I'm not used to smiling so much and being entertained. And I've not even mentioned Grealish. More of this UTFT

It's advanced warning that they really do not give a shit about what they serve. Why cook when there's a pre-made microwave option?

Hopefully he'll be thrown on a few more times now. Loved the bit of the game with Dibling, George and Charlie. We've got lots of players who are young, entertaining and likable. I've not felt this way for a long time.

Charlie continues to be an enigma, who pretty much always looks to have game changing potential. The ideal sub who is rarely subbed on. Weird.

Yelling "stop the boats!" as I charge in to rob this NatWest at gun point so that I can later call the Home Secretary as a character witness and the BBC will spend two weeks telling all my potential future jurors how legitimate my concerns were.

Nick Robinson on Today is literally talking about ‘legitimate concerns’ after second night of organised men dressed in black - sorry ‘protesters’ - mobilising en masse in another littoral town. This is how street fascism is normalised

I find it hard to have sympathy for Starmer given the ease and regularity with which he dispensed with advisors and civil servants

I don't think that people can begin to grasp that there's a whole group of working people who permanently go without. The cost of living crisis plunges too many into poverty, but many more into just about getting by in a really miserable way. £2 on a working day is huge. Don't let anyone deny it

Ben🦉 @bendoespr.bsky.social · 23/07/2026
If I was still a young worker getting the bus to my job in retail, I could save £2 every working day. That £2 would have mostly been banked, but sometimes would have gone towards getting myself a little treat at lunchtime. These are the little things that make life worth living.

Andy's reshuffle looked a lot like something that hadn't really been thought through at all. I'm really pleased to see people like Reeves, Jones and Reed gone, and there are a couple of great appointments like Reynolds back and Fahnbulleh in. But other than that, it's difficult to see the point.

I don't think Hermer did anything resembling a good job, despite his apparent eminence. Hopefully like any good Minister, his successor will surround herself with experts and take decisions on the best way forward.

This shows why sacking Darren Jones was a no brainer. Promoted way beyond his very limited abilities. Now he thinks that a slam dunk is saying "bad luck loser! One of our flagship policies was unfunded the whole time!"

The important thing is that there's a very clear sense to everyone in the civil service and government as to what the guy is trying to do across a few different areas. We have not had that in many years.

Rather than attacking Andy Burnham for having no mandate and calling for a General Election, Reform have instead decided that actually in a by-election, one constituency can be the judge on a national issue. Ok then

I had a vague memory of when Sam won. Obviously it's normally the leader rather than the deputy stood next to them, but he'd just decided to resign

The speech genuinely made me a bit sad because he *still* has not got that the job of the prime minister is not to spend five years talking about the next election. He never realised he was not leader of the opposition and now he never will.

Labour won 4/5 of the last by-elections when they were the opposition party leading in the polls. They were apparently never popular wanted by the country. Reform have won 1/5 by-elections when they are the opposition party leading in the polls. They are apparently popular and unstoppable.

The social media ban is THE example of everything stupid about Starmerism. Expending political capital on a doomed policy, which is unlikely to happen and wont work as intended even if it does.
