Update: I’ve been designing different labels for different brands of filaments, like how different software companies would have different design language. It makes the information on them less immediately clear but I really like the character it gives.

Look I know we’ve got a lot going on right now but just a very important reminder that this blue anteater guy is named Max Rebo and they style of music he plays in Star Wars is canonically called “jizz” and he is canonically a “jizz-wailer.”

It’s not my original idea, but I’ve started to keep inventory / test swatches of my filaments by printing floppy disks, complete with some custom printed labels.

Did I make a Special Agent Dale Cooper in Tomodachi Life? I did. Did I spend a surprising amount of time making textures to make his house look like the Black Lodge? Obviously I did.

Today we said goodbye to our sweet girl Amalthea, “God’s favorite princess”. My wife had her for 17 and a half years and she has been part of my life for 9 of them. She was a gorgeous cat that everybody loved, and her absence is already felt.

When I first moved here l, I didn’t really know anybody and decided to treat myself to a nice sushi dinner for my birthday. Picked the restaurant off of some random yelp reviews. 10 years later and I’ve been back (or gotten takeout during Covid lockdowns) every year since.

Beer #17 is Vanilla Double Stack imperial breakfast stout from Great Notion Brewing in Portland, OR. 11% ABV. I’ve actually had this one before and I love it. It smells *exactly* like fresh pancakes. It tastes like a very alcoholic coffee with maple syrup mixed in. 5 double stacks out of 5

Beer #16 was Winter Ale brewed with spruce from Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau, AK. 6.4% ABV. This was unique! Kind of bitter start but the spruce gives it a slightly herbal slightly sweet finish. I enjoyed it. 4 skis out of 5.

Behind on this again Beer# 15 was Heater Allen Pils bohemian-style pilsner from Heater Allen Brewing in McMinnville, OR. 5.1% ABV. What’s there to say? It’s a pilsner. Drinkable. Dependable. Nothing too wild about it. It’s the beer they order on TV when they order “a beer” 3 allens out of 5.

Beer #14 was Magnetic Fields Hazy IPA from Fort George Brewery in Astoria, OR. 7.0% ABV. It was really good except the bitter IPA flavor lingers far too long. Could have been great if not for that. Score is 3 magnets out of 5.

Beer #13 was Headsman wet coast IPA from There Does Not Exist in San Luis Obispo, CA. 7.0% ABV. “Brewed with Citra, HBC 586, CTZ, and Mosaic.” No idea what any of that means but it was pretty good for an IPA. 3.5 skeletons out of 5.
