Interesting stuff. So there *are* different levels of urgency but they all look and sound the same to the user. The only one that's different is level 1 because opting out is not possible. Quite horrifying to think about when that might be called for.

It's interesting to compare the reboot with the original. Edie McCredie's minibus was a central part of the show, but now it seems she's swapped it for a boat.

They've chosen to feature active travel very prominently in the titles. I'm definitely overthinking this but does the presence of a scooter imply an island-wide micromobility hire scheme?

Best shows on TV for decentring cars? I'll start - the new Balamory does a great job of showing that you don't need cars to get around. Instead, the characters walk, wheel or (in Ava Potts and PC Plum's case) use their fabulous bikes.

Such a joy to see inaccessible barriers being removed from walking/wheeling/cycling routes in Stockport. This cut-through is a key part of our commute/school run. Thanks @stockportcouncil.bsky.social and the brilliant campaigners of @walkridestocky.bsky.social 🎉
Before: Screenshot from Google Street View showing a set of three guardrails forming a tight chicane across a path between two houses. Our cargo trike would just about fit, but only with a dismount and lots of manoeuvring. I.e. not remotely accessible, and a pinch point during the school run as young people tend to congregate waiting for their friends. Now: photo of the same cut-through with the chicane removed and just one railing panel remaining at the edge of the road.

Sometimes copywriters come up with things that make sense on first read but are actually nonsense. How exactly do you "delight" somebody to a tea room?

Five star Google review from me, two years ago: Lovely room and breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Much better value for money than staying in Edinburgh itself.

"This isn't Amsterdam, you know – we have twice as much snow!" is my new favourite excuse @stockportcouncil.bsky.social what can we do about this? (No, not the snow, the lack of safe and accessible cycling infrastructure)

Photo of a quote in Empire. "How many pages have you got? Do you want to get into that?" Maybe just a touch?
"Personally, I don't know why it's coming after the things we need to do. I don't need it to breathe or fuck for me. I don't need it to tell stories for me. Go cure cancer, y'know? Got a thorn in my front tyre a mile away from lunch, but I can think of worse places to fix a puncture. I somehow did seven extra miles by repeatedly going the wrong way. I know, weird given all I had to do was follow the canal in a straight line, but that's how navigationally challenged I am 🫠

Google results for "Jonathan Ross controversy". AI overview says "Jonathan Ross's primary controversy was the 2008 "Sachsgate" scandal, where he and fellow presenter Russell Brand left lewd and offensive messages on the answerphone of veteran actor Andrew Sachs, which were then broadcast on a pre-recorded BBC Radio 2 show."
