This witch who loves pink came to me and said he needed a bouncer for a party. Before I could reply he smacked his gum and blew a bubble. The bigger his bubble blew the more bloated I began to swell!! Everything turned pink, and everything inflated!! I filled the doorway and certainly bounced!

Balloon Dude was a servant of Skol that turned to the light, developed a complex relationship with Belch Boy, and was then promptly written out. The storyline established that Belch Boy was gay as his sexuality was ambiguous up to this point.

The supernatural Witchfinder was a Puritan witch hunter cursed to undeath by an angry coven. In that time, he became a devotee of demons and dark gods. He was an attempt similar to Skol to have a serious and menacing villain.

His true skeletal face revealed and the act that prompted his eternal hatred of Belch Boy.

Captain New England was a more serious character, but he does get magically sumo-sized by Belch Boy in one issue. His shield can fire lasers from the eyes of its lion crest. He would only use this feature in one panel.

Backdraft is the flatulent, platonic life partner of Belch Boy. He evolved into the more sensible and restrained of the two. His tragic romance with Lunar Girl was a major subplot that originally was planned to have him stay with her in the alternate "fairy tale" earth of Fox and Wolf Adventures.

A rare instance of our heroes with their faces fully visible.

Backdraft was in fact a latent magic user and adopted this costume on the "fairy tale" earth.

Next up is Bonkeroo, inflatable, boxing kangaroo hero. There were always issues depicting his alien anatomy. Generally, played as a more serious character, but he lives in an insane parody of Australia where he takes orders from Nicole Kidman and has Tom Cruise as one of his arch enemies.

Bonkeroo poster image. I always went back and forth as to whether his face is more human, or he has a muzzle. Generally excused as his rubbery anatomy allows him to alter his face to look more human.

Originally his sidekick was Captain Wombat, but he often ended up paired with Skunk Man.

The subtle parody of Australia including the ubiquitous Nicole Kidman's Chicken n' Biscuits and The Kylie Minogue Hot Pants Museum next to the Danni Minogue Museum of Sibling Rivalry.

So, I think that it’s time to do a retrospective of old Gut Buster Comics characters starting with probably the most powerful villain our heroes encountered, Skol. A malign deity that consumes stars and the lifeforce of planets.
