So far all my 2026 writing plans have chucked themselves out the window, but I've been having a lovely time revisiting an old story instead + getting the chance to brainstorm its expansion. Apparently a mix of comedy of manners, courtly intrigue + folkloric fantasy is what my writing brain needs rn.

Favourite lines from tonight's before-bed writing spree: "Your heart is broken, your soul is trodden, but your conscience is clear. You're a monster of others' making, not your own." (BTW, if you loved "Once Upon a Pumpkin" in KNIFE, you'll be excited for this story ;-))

After being sick for the last 3-4 days, I finally got a chance to write for a few minutes before bed... and of course, it's on a project that isn't meant to be worked on this year. Oh well. Maybe I'll just follow this story for a while and see where it leads...

I was visiting with my nieces and nephew today and found my debut book in my eldest niece's room. Turned out, she'd checked it out of our local library and is reading through it! I've been struggling lately with how I view my work, and this warmed my lil author heart. :'-)

Going to see Wicked: For Good this Sunday and curious if it'll make me feel any different about the Elphaba/Fiyero/Glinda dynamic. (Which was my least favourite part of the musical and felt like it undercut the central relationship of the story).

Getting ready to shut down my old artist page/account on FB and IG. Makes me sad, but I'm also so, so grateful for that time in my life. When I wasn't writing much, I drew. And having that creative outlet meant so much. <3 And ironically now that I'm writing more, I can't draw, lol.
