a bummer about the west coast is that they don't do fall beers nearly as well. one of my most basic traits is that I enjoy pumpkin beer, and there just aren't many good ones out here. fewer really great Oktoberfests, too.

I think about this in music a lot--in Amanda Petrusich's book on 78 collectors, there's a bit about how the current conception of Delta blues is based more on what mid-century record nerds liked rather than what was most popular. Gen Z deciding Duster was the most important 90s rock band, etc.
