Eve related - 1 Tim 2:15 talks about reversing the curse on Eve 'through childbearing' I was treated like I was crazy for suggesting that the verse could possibly be about Jesus being born of a woman as the saviour of the world and not as women needing to participate in the 'created order' 🙃

People like to ask "what would your life be like if genAI disappeared?" and I find the answer "the exact same as it is now" to be silly. No it would not be the same! I would get back the time that I currently use complaining about and arguing against that particular brand of determined stupidity.

My dad took us with him when he went to see Spiderman 2 in cinemas with a friend. My dad is not a superhero fan, his friend picked the movie, and I think my dad assumed the movie would be fine for kids because = comic book. I was eight years old, and was deeply traumatised by Doc Ock 😄

I always liked the name Charlie. But then I married a man with the last name Sharley. Charlie Sharley. Absolutely could not do that to a kid 😄

My in-laws both retired in the last decade. FIL is now involved in organising and promoting pickleball clubs and his local men's shed, MIL had taken her experience from a career in health infrastructure and is now organising conferences, sitting on boards and doing probono consults for small towns.

We do this in Australia! AND teachers and other school staff get it at the same time, completely free. Makes so much sense.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

I acquired this silly guy because we went to a cat cafe in Feb 2020, with no intentions of getting a cat (we already had one). But Teddy fell asleep on my lap. He was the sweetest boy. I cried when we had to leave. So we came back the next day and adopted him. 3 weeks later. COVID hit.

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

Oh I also love this! We did a couple of different present moments for 3yo this year (purely do to logistics/when she was seeing different people) and it made the whole thing smoother and less overwhelming. Also meant I could gift her things to wear at her party ahead of time so she got excited!

Me: tells all my medical health providers I have OCD, outline what that looks like. Health providers: act surprised when I show up early for appointments with detailed notes and organisation of what new scripts I need.

The first time I heard my brother in law has a PhD in concrete I thought that sounded boring. I now stand corrected many years later, it is both fascinating and essential for our world and infrastructure today.

For me it is a fun balance of deciding if I would rather parent a 3yo with migraine pain or if I would rather be so zonked out on migraine meds my parenting quality rapidly declines 🙃

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

Having a week where I feel surrounded by people effortlessly having their 2nd, 3rd, 4th babies and meanwhile I am left behind with my one miracle child, who I didn't think we would get and is more than enough, but makes me stand out as different as everyone else pops out another one with ease.

Earlier, my daughter had a meltdown because she wanted moisturiser. But not the downstairs moisturiser, the upstairs moisturiser (they are the same). But she didn't want to put it on upstairs. She wanted to put the upstairs moisturiser on downstairs 🙃

It's a pretty weird season of life with a 3yo and my husband working full time on a PhD and me juggling a million part time roles, so a childfree weekend in a cabin in the middle of nowhere with a fireplace was kind of perfect

My husband and I are going away for two child free nights to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. We have booked a cabin with a fireplace, packed board games and books, ordered a huge cheese hamper and I have just picked up bread from the fancy bakery. I am so so excited.

ed sheeran has certainly not covered himself in glory but he’s at best a miniboss here. if his concert get canceled but everyone pours into Gillette Stadium for the next pop star or nfl game, then Robert Kraft and his pals still effectively got what they wanted.

My street gets used as a shortcut between residential colleges at the nearby university and the main street that has shops/restaurants/night-life. The drama I hear being discussed by students walking down my street at all hours of the day and night is constant entertainment 😄

We did this story at church recently, and when we got to the part of the story where Isaac asks his dad where the lamb is, a little kid yelled out in the most dramatic voice ever: "YOU'RE THE LAMB ISAAC!"

I love books. A lot. I enjoy browsing bookstores. But every now & then I am in a bookstore & I get hit with an overwhelming sense of panic that there are too many good books in the world & I simply do not have the time to read them all. Is this just a crazy me thing or do others feel it as well?
