I actually agree on the pacing cuts being too obvious, but thats just a sign of bad editing. Good editing is invisible even when they’re cutting a LOT. I checked the remaining runtime more this season than any other and actually started being annoyed at the twists. 😭

I LOVE Game Changer, but this season was too much for me. Too many cast members, too many rules, too many twists, too big of productions. The only thing they didn’t have too much of was cutting mid footage to improve the pacing. It was a season of bloat.

Also, even if you’re not monetized and don’t have ads you put on the video yourself, YouTube will still sometimes put ads on it. The catch is that since you aren’t monetized, they get to keep 100% of the ad revenue that’s on the video *you* made. Raising the requirements means more money for them.

Just saw YouTube is doubling viewership requirements for creators to be eligible for ad/premium revenue, which reinforces slop. Because the easiest way to hit either of these targets is to churn out the most low-effort shit possible. Investing time/effort on a single video is now much riskier.

YouTube’s new requirements to be eligible for ad revenue payouts and Premium payouts:

1,000 Subscribers (same as it previously was)

And either

8,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months. (Up from 4,000)

Or

20M qualified shorts views (Up from 10M)
