I 100% see that. But you still need to show up and nudge the country in the direction you want. If you want the country further to the left, you need to push it to the left every chance you get. The candidate you want can't even make it onto a ballot until we move a lot more. So help.

I kinda get it. But I also think not voting because you don't like the candidates is fundamentally selfish. The purpose of voting is not to make you feel good inside. The purpose is to affect the direction of the country. Declining to do that because of fee-fees is missing the point entirely

If we decide that math problems aren't conscious, then I guess the argument would be that somehow computer chips have conscious experiences. But if that was the case then we would have to conclude that most computers are conscious. And no one believes that a GPU is experiencing Fortnite for example.

Interesting. I've done the training that UC (California) requires and it's pretty clear that intoxicated people cannot meaningfully consent. I didn't know it varied that drastically between states.

Given his popularity numbers are in the tank I'm thinking it might be best if the big day comes after the midterms. Before then I worry the GOP folks on the ballot will get a sympathy bump in the vote.

It also shifts the tax rate from the income tax which is paid on dividends to the much lower capital gains rate. Being against what is basically a giant tax loophole is not "virtue signaling". Also, last I checked virtue is good and it's ok to say that

It's worth reminding folks that buybacks shift the profits shareholders get from dividends which are taxed at income rates to be instead capital gains which are taxed at a much lower rate.

It's not the models which are being misled when they are trained to act human. It's the users. I saw somewhere the idea that we should not train LLMs to use first person at all. They should only respond in third person.

Personally I think we should stick with standard time. But fundamentally the clock doesn't change when the sun rises or sets. If you have work to do or partake in an activity that needs daylight you need to set your schedule appropriately regardless of the clock.
