Good morning, my friend! Happy #FriYay! I usually invite you to #mygarden on Fridays for an end-of-week #respite. Bit soggy today, so am sharing photo of a new rose I picked up at my fave garden center last wkend, called “Marc Chagall.” Plus my first harvest of cukes & San Marzanos. Lunch included!🥗

This beautiful rose, “The Marc Chagall,” was the last of its kind at the garden center. It tugged at my heart so had to come home with me.

My first two cucumbers and San Marzano tomatoes that I grew from seed! Technically, “San Marzano’s” can only be grown with that protected designation in Italy, but the seeds are sold worldwide.

Good morning, my friend! Had a dr’s appointment and parked at a legit spot in front of this tree. Wood yew look at the attitude it gave me! Unbeleaf-able! Doc said “Don’t worry, his bark is worse than his bite.” Never identified the root cause. It’s oak-kay, tree, I fir-give yew for being so shady🪾🌳

Good morning, my friend! Just revisited #Boston250 sites for the upcoming holiday! The Granary Burying Ground on the #FreedomTrail is the final resting place for hundreds of #AmericanRevolution #patriots. Over 5,000 are buried here, but only 2,300 markers remain. (clic on photos for more info) 🇺🇸

Grave marker for John Hancock, wealthy businessman and first signer of the Declaration of Independence. He purposely signed his name large so King George III could “read it without spectacles.”

The small headstone on the right of the commemorative marker simply says “Reveres Tomb.”

Headstone placed in 1906 marking “The remains of Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, James Caldwell, Crispus Attucks and Patrick Carr,” five men killed by British soldiers in front of the Crown’s Governing Office, later the first Massachusetts State House, in what is known as The Boston Massacre.” Soldiers shot into a crowd of 309-400 protesters. Crispus Attucks, a black man, was the first killed.

Grave marker for Robert Treat Paine, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Front door to The Wayside Inn. This main entrance brings you to both the restaurant and the original pub room. “Wayside” is the site’s modern name which came from Longfellow’s “Tales of the Wayside Inn.” It was originally known as Howe’s Tavern, later Red Horse Tavern. On April 19, 1775, innkeeper Lt. Col. Ezekial Howe led 2 companies of Sudbury militia to Concord after receiving Paul Revere’s alarm.

Inside the 310-year-old tavern is this informational poster, created to celebrate the Inn’s 300th anniversary in 2016.

Across the street are the barns, farm stand and gift items. Pure New England…

Most, though not all, of my roses are on their own garden island that they share with a pine tree that I refuse to have cut down. As a result, I am constantly amending the soil. It’s a lot of work, but just look at the pay off!

This David Austin Rose has bent into its red neighbors. I called this the most beautiful photobomb!

Just added to my collection. This rosebush is called “Italian Ice!” I think it’s yummy.

I just don’t remember this one’s name, I’m sorry to say, but it fascinated me because the buds are red and the bloom is hot pink. I may have to go back to the garden center to see if they remember the name. I haven’t seen it again there since I bought it a couple of years ago.
