The Firefighter Rose is a hybrid tea created in honor of all the 1st Responders on 9/11. I ordered and planted it in June. It arrives without leaves to retain its moisture in shipping. Look how well it has recovered! Will grow 5-6’ tall.

The streets of Boston’s North End are decorated for the annual St. Anthony Feast, the largest Italian religious festival in New England. The National Geographic calls it “the Feast of all Feasts.” I just call it fun.

Bit soggy today, so am sharing photo of a new rose I picked up at my fave garden center last wkend, called “Marc Chagall.” Plus my first harvest of cukes & San Marzanos. Lunch included!🥗

This beautiful rose, “The Marc Chagall,” was the last of its kind at the garden center. It tugged at my heart so had to come home with me.

My first two cucumbers and San Marzano tomatoes that I grew from seed! Technically, “San Marzano’s” can only be grown with that protected designation in Italy, but the seeds are sold worldwide.

Looking out my kitchen window to the back deck. A dark colored hummingbird appears ready to land in my window feeder. It’s tough to see due to the colors, but you’ll find him left of center, just above the left chair!

Good morning, my friend! Had a dr’s appointment and parked at a legit spot in front of this tree. Wood yew look at the attitude it gave me! Unbeleaf-able! Doc said “Don’t worry, his bark is worse than his bite.” Never identified the root cause. It’s oak-kay, tree, I fir-give yew for being so shady🪾🌳

Knots on the trunk of this tree look like a face showing disapproval.

Had to show you a surprise gift my garden gave to me: I experimented by planting lobelia in each pocket of an old strawberry pot, except….yellow and red snapdragons showed up in one! Nice surprises are always welcome!
