Nobody loves New York like New York loves New York, and I think that should teach us about having a lot of love for yourself. Like shit, the subways are grimy but I am the coolest person in the world and I will fight anyone who makes me feel otherwise

I go back and forth every year thinking about grad school to study policy. I would focus on policing & political communications. It would be a dreammmm to study full time in a city or town with a sexy dark academia aesthetic, and I’m making a plan to apply this year 😭 wish me luck!

I ranted to my mom on the plane about how I feel confident about my policy work b/c there are technofascists, politicians & co at the very tippy top who are morally corrupt, pedophile r*pists, racist, sexist, incompetent, do nothing but death & destruction, & most importantly, a bunch of loooosers

If Trump & co has the evil, unhinged audacity to ask for trillions for war & genocide, I would like us to have equal audacity to demand trillions for healthcare, housing, universal basic income, and climate action to start.

Don’t worry! We won’t forget. I’m barefoot at an airport, people are taking off their belts, and I’m paranoid theyll detain me for being a terrorist because what if someone snuck a weapon into my backpack when I wasn’t looking.

Look, this book is incredibly relevant to not only New York, but why I am going through TSA and taking off my shoes in the first place

The book of choice I decided on bring to my trip to New York is Reign of Terror: How the 9/11 Era Destabilized America and Produced Trump. TSA didn’t even take that out! They did take out my gothic heart carabiner though and threw it away.

In 2026, the US is a country where we sign other people up to do things we don't want to do and we do not appreciate the labor of those who do the work we don't want to do. It's the conciergification of US society [without the tips].

Ok. I am in New York right now, and I feel the need to communicate NYC is maybe a combo of these memes. So beautiful and vibrant, full of culture, but I’m gonna be a huge Debbie downer and say: the rent is still too damn high, and I just saw 10 NYPD officers arrest an unarmed person 😤

At least 57 people have died in ICE detention since the start of President Trump's second term — more than double the number of deaths recorded from the previous four years combined. ICE must be held accountable before any more lives are lost.

Deaths in ICE Detention More Than Doubles Under Trump
Death rate could be higher if it includes hidden deaths of people released from detention that ICE is reporting under Trump administration.

Do you want to rename it U.S. Department of Torturing Children? Or U.S. Department of Genocide instead? of Imperialism? That might be more accurate.

Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Department of Defense is language to hide all of their war crimes and moral failings. At least Department of War is closer to the ugliness- though war is still seen as bothside-ism, when we clearly have more nuclear weapons, money, & military equipment & power.

Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Defense? Defense from what? What are you so defensive about? Are you making up a reason to go send our military somewhere or establish military bases literally everywhere? What’s the reason? What exactly are you defending against?

Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Previous to Trump, this department was named The Department of Defense. Which is liberal bullshit to hide genocide, imperialism, torture, r*pe, pillaging, extraction, exploitation, etc. Honestly, maybe it’s better to have the evil in plain sight, rather than hiding behind “Defense.”

President George Washington signed legislation establishing the original U.S. War Department on August 7, 1789 The United States Department of Defense uses "Department of War" as an official secondary title following an executive order signed by President Donald Trump on September 5, 2025.

Feeling sick to your stomach at an injustice or violence done to someone is completely normal. To pretend we are robots without emotions in this work is to deny the very thing that tells us when something is wrong and when something is right- our bodies. Take care of your bodies.
000
Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Our bodies give us a sign of what's right. Do not be ashamed of it-it's our moral compass.

To all workers exposed to secondary trauma, I have been there. Especially people in any kind of advocacy work, legal, therapy, or social services.

Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
All your bodies' trauma signals to point to the fact that violence done to people is not okay. That the system is not okay.

Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
A word to our advocates about secondary trauma & our bodies as our moral compass: After witnessing or hearing about something, ever need to go to the bathroom to throw up? Or cry? Or need to vent to someone?

Uhhhh if you're a man and the only woman you'll "protect" or care about is your wife or girlfriend, you kind of suck as a member of society

Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
It's upside down, where the richest and most successful cause mass harm, and the poorest do the most good. So we have to ask, if the institution of fraternities as a whole that churns out men who are not good for our society is worth keeping.
000
Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Fraternities are a networking opportunity in plain sight for these men. We need to prevent the people who will not cease to harming others, from getting jobs where they make decisions that impact many lives.
100
Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Lots of people in power who do bad things, like have a hand in our oppression and write bad laws against our bodies and lives, are alumni from frats. One example is Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
100
Beatrix Li @beatrixrated.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Abolish fraternities: they’re not only breeding grounds for sexual assault and misogyny, but a professional network for men to climb up into positions of power where they make harmful decisions about our bodies and lives.

Everything is backwards, up is down, wrong is right, freedom is slavery, etc. People with power and status are passing legislation to get killer robot dogs and Elon Musk in charge of counseling “war” to the pentagon. Uh, I think I’m smarter than Elon Musk.

And they don’t have the credentials either to be drafting and analyzing good policy. So if I am reading peer reviewed articles & texts and guided by policy experts, I don’t think I need to go back to school, everyone who has told me that lol

Ehh, going to grad school for policy or a law degree would be very helpful However, there are elected officials who pass policy aren’t qualified for their jobs, who are p*dophiles, r*pists, and drive policies that cause massive harm to people, so my imposter syndrome can eat farts lmao

Don't let copaganda fool you — police violence is not tied to their safety. In 2025, the vast majority of killings began with police responding to suspected non-violent offenses or cases where no crime was reported.
Screenshot of chart showing how police killings in 2025 began. 680 were suspected non-violent offenses or cases where no crime was reported. 112 were traffic violations. 84 were unknown.

I’ve worked for four legal and policy organizations, and I gained little actual legal experience. I did learn, however, how to make attorneys laugh after court and how to write a press release in 10 minutes
