I react more strongly to the COVID shot than I do the flu shot. Uncomfortable though it is, it's still 1,000% better than the 1X I had COVID. Soooo miserable. I hope your shots work, and you feel fine soon.

Finding romance with someone who’s unplugged is one of the primary reasons book lovers search for other book lovers. Now, there are specialized dating apps such as Readme and speed-dating and singles events at bookstores.

washingtonpost.com

Bookstores know it. So does a new dating app. It’s hot to be a reader.

Literary interests are a green flag for those looking for a partner with curiosity and communication skills — or just the ability to put down the phone.

Oh, that is very interesting.

Oh, oh. Fingers crossed there was no damage this time.

One new teacher has been hired; she starts Tuesday. I should be in the room with her, and can show her the ropes. The preschool staff is awesome so she'll have support. They still need a second teacher for the room. Not me, except to fill in as needed. I'm a toddler teacher, 100%.

Well, my sister survived Hurricane Isaias. She texted, said her house seems okay, maybe some damage in the yard. I just tried calling but she didn't answer. She may be sleeping. Fingers crossed that there isn't any damage to the house and only minor damage in the yard.

My understanding, and this is all second hand, is that the 2nd teacher quit when she found that the 1st one quit because of her. Pity, as the 1st seemed like a nice person and a good teacher.

020

Bea @beasbooknook.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

And I have a lot of support from the other preschool teachers. It's not the first time I've filled in for non-existent staff. We'll get through this. But that one coordinator really needs to chill the eff out.

020

Bea @beasbooknook.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

So, it turns out both the teachers in the classroom quit yesterday. Ooops. Apparently, and this is second hand, they weren't getting along. So, I'll probably be in there again tomorrow. The micromanager shouldn't be in, which will make my life easier. The other coordinator is much more chill.

Bea @beasbooknook.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Oh, help me. I'm alone in a preschool room today, good kids, but not my area of expertise and the preschool coordinator is an extreme micromanager.

I used Flinase for years. It's not an inhaler. She didn't mention specifics so I don't know what she's using. Nasal sprays can be very useful. I'm currently on Azelastine and it's good. It helps with my allergies.

120

Yes! I tried explaining that but that was not what she wanted to hear. She insisted she took multiple inhalers for her allergies. Umm, no. You're doing something wrong. You fundamentally misunderstand your mefication. Just, no. I tried to be polite but I did not back down.

knowingly contribute to that. This person and I were acquaintances at best and while I interacted with her posts, she rarely interacted with mine. So, no great loss on either side. But her refusal to acknowledge correct information both annoys and tickles me.

040

Well, got unfriended on FB by someone upset I wouldn't agree that inhalers treat allergies. Allergies can and do asthma, which is treated with inhalers. But currently, there are no inhalers for treating allergies. None. There's a lot of misinformation re allergies & asthma and I refuse to

@limecello.bsky.social It was delightful! I certainly didn't expect lunch to go so long but it was so pleasant and fun.

We had a nice long lunch today. We ate out then stopped at an ice cream place on the way home. Almost 4 hours! But it was so nice chatting and catching up.

So the worst of the pain was gone in a few days. But almost 4 weeks later, I am still having pain & soreness. I think I need to call the doctor. Which means more time off from work. Sigh. This is also the shoulder w/osteoarthritis so maybe some of the pain is from that? Regardless, I'm tired of pain
