My story "Jerry Was a Bare-Knuckle Fighter" was a finalist in @midnightwriters.bsky.social 's Midnight Magazine. Which is very cool. I'm trying to not let getting laid off right after I found out ruin it for me lol.

Finalist! Midnight Macabre badge/sticker looking graphic. Ghost holding black cat. Word balloon says "yayyy!" I think the ghost is saying it, but it could be the cat. Take your pick. Ghosts don't have vocal chords and cats don't have lips. Could go either way.

Update: Judges not fans. :( Was pretty bummed for a day or two. Not a fan of the new ranking system. I'd rather risk 0W-3L against other stories than a rubric score. I'm in the minority. Not all bad. Peers really seemed to enjoy it. Some suggested they'd pre-order if I turned it into a novel. :)

Also I couldn't resist getting a record store scented candle. Which I'm totally using when I get my home studio put back together. It smells like a Spencer's Gifts but more refined. If I was Gwyneth Paltrow this is what I'd want my vagina to smell like.
