I am currently in Manchester. I don’t know the city but there’s an insane number of people selling cups of corn kernels topped with butter in the main shopping area. Either Mancunians love it or it’s the equivalent of American Candy shops in London. Judging by the few customers, the latter.

As others have pointed out, most of the obituaries of Bill Oddie have inaccuracies in them. But the one that’s annoying me the most is when something from The Goodies is called a “skit”. YOU MEAN SCENE! IT’S A SITCOM!!!

Bill Oddie, what a lovely bloke. He wrote us a letter when we started making The Young Ones, wishing us the very best, and warning us against interference from higher up. He didn’t know anyone in the cast personally. It just came out of the blue. Lovely thing to do.

I went to the same school as Bill Oddie (KES in Birmingham) and there were legends that he'd once arrived at school on horseback and also had put up diversion signs which meant all the traffic along the main Bristol Road had to pass through the school grounds but I don't know if either is true.

Farewell Bill, most radical of the Goodies. Present at Grosvenor Square with Tariq & Vanessa. Turned his harassment by the Met into slapstick TV comedy for kids. Angry, hairy, furiously talented.

I feel the ”What’s next?” section could have been better worded, here…
In short:
British actor and broadcaster Bill Oddie has died at the age of 85.
The death of Oddie, best known to Australian audiences through the 1970s UK TV show The Goodies, was confirmed by his agent.
What's next?
Scottish-born Graeme Garden is the one surviving member of The Goodies' trio.

Arrived back in London from Australia yesterday morning and went out at lunchtime to pick up some food. Whilst walking up a well known high street, I was asked for change, told to fuck off and had a half-full pipe of Pringles thrown at my feet, all in the space of 30 seconds. It’s great to be back.

My take on SNL UK is that it’s about as funny as SNL USA. Weekend Update not as sharp as SNL USA, and nowhere near as sharp as Radio 4’s The Naked Week, which is very much the gold standard for UK topical comedy right now.
