I get along with people easily enough, but get close/attached to very few; I've heard similar from a few other autistic people. Danielle Smith made a run-of-the-mill T&R Day post on fb and it got a ton of 😂 reacts and "show me proof" comments. These are *her* supporters + the separatists she's still trying to court. If she actually wants to do something meaningful today, she should clear up the misinfo instead of ignoring it

Right now people are sharing stories of their relatives' trauma endured in childhood just to get comments like "Where's the PROOF??" from people informed by foreign-run bot farms on fb. It would be cool if conservative leaders would address that in their generic, probably AI-written T&R Day posts!

Especially in the AI era, lately I've been thinking that maybe some stories are better kept close, only shared among family and people we know and trust to engage with them with appropriate nuance, care, intentions, etc

I've never seen a poll suggesting any chance of Alberta voting to separate. We have an election next year, when a party could run on a separatist platform. But no, let's waste time and money to entertain the little fantasy of facebook-misinfo-pilled extremists who will reject the results anyway.

I wasn't up for hearing ads, so I just gave up and didn't listen to music, it was ridiculous. I was already sick of creating accounts, signing in to things, etc. Time to shift away from all that a bit.

My recent "enough is enough" moment: I wanted to listen to music. Credit card expired so I had to update it on my streaming app. I got the new card, entered it - processing error. This past week I got a DVD player again and started to rebuild a DVD and CD collection. Just gave my kid her first CD (K-pop Demon Hunters soundtrack) and DVD set (She-Ra complete series). I told her about liner notes, and showed her how to handle the discs to keep them in good condition.

When choosing a flash tattoo as a teenager I was considering this one abstract design and my dad said "I know it's not a swastika, but at first glance it kinda reminds me of one" and that was enough for me to say yikes, def not that one then. When I saw that on US TV shows I thought it must be just a TV thing, like it would disrupt the flow of the scene if people had to stop and take their shoes off at the door, so they keep them on. I just made that up and believed it until I found out no, a lot of people really do live like that 😕

Here's the other thing I made for this exhibition. It's a weighted vest, with straps woven from 2kg of metal beads.

Me wearing this weighted vest, visible from below my nose to my mid- abdomen. It's in the style of a bulldog harness. The golden straps are made from woven metal beads. A beaded version of the immaculate heart of Mary is in the center of it - a red heart with flames coming out the top, 3 pink roses across the front of it, and gold beaded edges. It has a cupid's arrow through it instead of the usual swords, and some dark red beaded "blood" dripping out of the exit wound.

Here's one of my pieces, based on a family story. On the side of the case is a window with info to scroll through: a little family tree explaining who I am, who passed the story to me, and maps showing where we're from and where the story happened. It won't play until you scroll through that info.

I have a couple pieces in this art exhibition, Expressions of Métis Religion and Spirituality, which is at Harcourt House in Edmonton until tomorrow. It'll be touring to a few venues, so I'll post future dates and locations when I know them.
