Bonjour, Ruby. 🇨🇦 XORuby comes to Montréal Oct 17, 2026. It's a single-track conf, top Ruby speakers, $100 ticket, zero travel needed. Details: www.xoruby.com/event/montre... #XORuby
Event card for XORuby Montréal, October 17, 2026. Background shows an orange-tinted photo of the Montreal Biosphère's geodesic dome against a cloudy sky. Text reads: "Montréal never quite fits a simple description. Wrapped around Mount Royal, it's a city where two languages trade jokes on a terrasse, bagels come out of wood-fired ovens at 2 a.m., and summer seems built..."

Bonjour Montréal 👋 We're coming to town this October 17! Who should speak at the conference? We’re looking for new voices. Maybe someone who dives into a deep part of a domain that Ruby helped solve, someone who has a story to tell that’ll make us think about our AI age, ...

I've seen everyone sharing that US Dialect Quiz so I decided to make my own, much crappier, CANADIAN DIALECT QUIZ to guess where in Canada you're from
A flow chart I have created with multiple questions and the answers determine where you're from.

Question 1 is do you call it a hydro bill (which then branches down to ON, QC, BC, MB) or an electric bill (which then branches down to SK, AB, NS, NB, PEI, NL)

Question 2 is do you call it a cabin (BC, MB, AB, SK) cottage (ON and atlantic) camp (northern Ontario) chalet (QC) or bungalow (Cape Breton)

To delineate BC from MB: do you call it dinner or supper

To delineate southern Ontario rural or big city: have you heard of a stag & doe

To delineate SK from AB: do you call a hoodie a bunnyhug

And finally to delineate NL from the other atlantic provinces: whaddayat? (Correct answer: dis is it b'y)

Built something new this morning and am getting quizzed, right now, on what we did and why. Extremely cool that people like Hicks and Willison can independently build tools that give people control over their own learning process; I hope tech journalists are writing this up.
