Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 11hI learned to cook when I lived in Spain in my late 20s. The jarred sauces & condiments I’d relied on, where imported & very expensive so I had to learn how to match the flavours & make my own. Now we have moved back to be with my octogenarian parents. They rely on frozen chopped veg & jars, tins. 000
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 12hI could never find them in Catalunya! I looked for them when we wanted to make chocolate Easter nests! We ended up using “sticks” a version of all bran instead! 020
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026That sounds tasty! I adore Thai food! But I especially envy the fresh pineapple! Lush! We are having left over roast pork with cauliflower cheese, stuffing, roast sweet potatoes and other veg. No pud, no booze (for me). 140
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Lol! What did they buy? The same things? Or was only one buying? 120

Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026“Talk to me in 20 years” he said. But I am here in Wales, instead, where two young people I have met have Crohn’s, another few have fibromyalgia, diabetes. And they’re younger every time.(3) 000
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026“Mothers no longer keep a barra in the cochecito to satisfy their grumpy babies.” He said. “They have donuts instead. The ones that are readily found in the supermarket. They don’t go off and are ready to satisfy anytime baby cries” (2) 100
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026When I first arrived in Catalunya, I marvelled at how slim they all were. That the Mediterranean Diet must be well adhered to in this corner of the world. The doctor to whom I was chatting to said you are arriving just as things are changing. 220
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I agree it’s not an easily defined term. And a lot of nutritionists and dieticians have pointed out that the term tends to “throw the baby out with the bath water”. But with food deserts being a real thing, colorectal cancer diagnosis in the young increasing we don’t need to kill the messengers. 000
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I don’t think you should hold Tim Spector and his ilk to a higher account than the people who successfully peddle addictive food stuffs. But you have managed to do so. So if you feel I am lowering myself to your level, so be it. Go in peace my friend. 000
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Listen lovely, it’s easy to see what’s whole and healthy. That we as a community want to argue the toss and eat shit doesn’t change that. Mars and Coca Cola positively encourage the controversy! I have these arguments with my children, I don’t think you and I need to argue too. 100
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Hahaha. But cheese is both, didn’t you know? And it’s also a ferment! So it’s actually especially good for you! And my favourite. I’m all about cheese, butter and cream and… I’m also aware the snake oil sales are also on all sides. Not just Tim whatshisname. 100
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 05/10/2026It’s not rocket science. If the food is high in fat salt sugar and doesn’t look like it’s original ingredient, it’s ultra processed and shouldn’t be consumed in great quantities. But it doesn’t mean we can’t inhale a packet of Doritos at the weekend. Moderation is key. 110
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026It’s a trauma from my toddler years! I was forced to eat a boiled egg. (Long story, utterly understandable) And yes it’s a combo smell and texture. I’m fine with omelette, scrambled etc. But runny yolk is not for me. But hard boiled is a problem too…sigh! 120
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Im not much of an egg person but that looks lovely Hass! Well done on your 10k too! 110
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026What time do you usually eat your Sunday evening meal Gfrancie? I’m still waiting on the applesauce and stuffing and hubby is chopping the sweet potatoes! 100
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I can imagine how delicious this will be Brie! Bon profit! 010
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I am reluctant to pay for things I can make (often better) at home. But I conceded to enjoying g time with my friend at a cafe and enjoying the best lemon and ginger tea I have ever had! I’m going to buy and infusion pot just so I can attempt to replicate it! 110

Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Hahahaha! I’m married to a Scot and have never needed to live in Scotland to know they’re a breed apart! There are words, poems, traditions, and food/drink that is uniquely their own. George Robertson is entitled to his opinion, but in my own experience I am inclined to disagree. 030

Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Stunningly gorgeous! I’m sure you both enjoyed it! We have trails near us too and I run them every other day and hubby and I walk them daily! (Our old dog does a quarter of one each evening these days bless her!) 010

Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 03/10/2026My mother, a former champion on herd immunity and vaccines, a retired nurse, has been indoctrinated by the anti vaccine rhetoric on the internet. So even though the MRNA vaccine isn’t yet available in the UK, she has decided not to vaccinate ever again. 🤷♀️ 110

Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 03/10/2026We do tuna (in oil) cooked onions and chopped fresh oregano. Thats the most controversial combination for us! I’d love anchovies, olives and capers but my 3 generation family would revolt! We do pizza Saturdays too! 020
Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Thanks for sharing this Marie-Pierre. My children are eligible for flu vaccine, but we adults shall have to pay. My mother has decided not to. So it’s down to us. I had flu in late 2019 & it took months to recover. By the time I began to feel human again, we were locked down for covid! 110

Hannah @bcnbabe.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Thank you Paul thats high praise coming from you! This is the first week I can honestly say they ate well too! My mum found them too dark. So I shall need to work on getting them baked inside without the dark golden crust. 010
