I'm not a #romantasy author, but it's amusing when people pretend it's a surprising or shocking new trend indicating whatever. My brother in Reorx, 87% of chat rooms / message boards in the 90's and early 00's were group improv romantasy sessions. Some of us were even sexy Jedi. Not me, of course

As a huge Stephen King reader and fan, his stories are so effective because the real horror is just the truth at max resolution. Our world is scary. There are terrible people in it doing awful, unspeakable things. King's strength is depicting it truthfully and going "okay, what now?" (1/2)

Hot author *and* reader take: however you pronounce a character's name in your head is how it's pronounced. I've had people ask me how to pronounce certain names in my books, and I always say "however your brain did it, that's the right way." (1/2)

So a fun way to not feel old is to put all of your morning meds and supplements into a shot glass. I have two empty shot glasses on my desk right now and it looks noir as hell but it's mostly for anti-inflammatories, vitamins, and brain pills.

One of the dumber things about me is that every 8 years I switch to Firefox and it works fine for about 7 months and then starts crashing non-stop. Then I uninstall it in a rage, and then I forget and do the same thing again in 8 years. Like, at some point, this is on me now. Fool me once, etc

"Some jokes involving the term Lucified, like they're riffing catch phrases and that's Daphne'a addition.

DG5 Ideas. 2nd act idea: They're talking about saving REDACTED, rescuing her, etc. If she hasn't looked for us, maybe she's been caught, etc. They botch a rescue or something, and she makes it clear she's staying. Pop ppppppp

Anyone else still use Basic-Ass Notepad (the PC program) for taking notes, copying things, etc? I've always adored how clean and no frills it is. In a world of infinite distractions and AI chime-ins, Notepad feels like a meditative thought garden.

Lucy's voice in the first DEADGIRL book (and subsequent books) is heavily based on my wife's high school diaries, which she graciously lent me when I first started writing the series. The car crash in the novel also occurs at the cross streets where my wife used to live in high school

These AI phishing emails to authors used to at least be semi-accurate. Now they don't even bother. I got one addressed to "Lenny" for my novel "A Medieval Misadventure," which is apparently a "high-stakes medieval fantasy story full of tropes with humor and absurdity."
