I am really, really excited about these books. They still need to be glued, but they are trimmed and they are just so colorful and I love them!! Be sure to keep an eye on my Ko-fi for when they may be available! (Probably going to Pride first though!)

A pile of books, some with pages that are rainbow. Some with pages that are trans themed. The covers are a variety of lovely fabrics. Rainbows, scales, butterflies, the moon…

Oh my goodness!! Thanks for the tag and happy birthday!!

The spines of rainbow text blocks. Stitched and ready to go. Some are gay pride. Some re trans pride.

Largely of Zelda cross stitch! It’s 1/10th of the way completed the clouds are being worked on. The grid on the right is blank.

A series of book covers. One is grey wood, one is covered in words like woof and has paw prints and bones. The next has blue cactuses, and finally the last one has white arrows on a black background.

Many feathers. But they’re made of paper. These are bookmarks and are made with off cuts.

Hey there Fiona! I saw in your Shane video that you've got some massive Shane fanfics. See, I'm a bookbinder, and thought that, as another fan of Shane, if you'd like a hand bound hardcover book made out of your favorite fic you've written, I'd be happy to do it for free and send it to you!

I hate wasting paper. But, because of the size of the end pages, I cut off a lot to make my 12x12's fit the 8.5x11. BUT! I've figured out what to do with the offcuts that are book themed! Bookmarks! Since I'm Bat Feathers, I'm making feather bookmarks from the offcuts! They will be laminated!

Many colorful bookmarks of a variety of styles, but all look like feathers.

They will eventually be laminated.

We’re not going back. After the DEI announcement my family stopped patronizing them. We spend our DEI dollars at CostCo, where they at the very least realize that we organize and vote with our dollars. They’ve lost our trust.

Anyone have any suggestions? I refuse to patronize Hobby Lobby, and I really hate shopping for fabric online. We have Quilter’s Haven, but a lot of these cute fabrics are just going to disappear. Is there a queer friendly fabric store anywhere in the Chicagoland area? I’ll even drive hours to see!

BatFeathers Bookbinding @batfeathers.bsky.social · 08/03/2025

We’re currently at JoAnn, @krowslived.satan.social and I. Buying fabric. There’s so many fabrics begging to be made into books, but there’s a 2 yard minimum and it’s only 20% off. I hate that I’ll not ever be able to access this fabric again. Ugh. I’m so depressed about this.

Stitch them, glue them together! You’d need: awl, crochet thread (I use this because it’s better!), bees wax, curved needle, glue, a brush (I use reusable silicone ones!), scissors, cardstock, book board, something for the cover Or! You can always reach out to a friendly neighborhood bookbinder!

Easy work! It’s what I do on a hobby level! The most expensive part of the starting costs would be your printer (assuming you have a computer, of course!) you’d need one that could print on both sides. Format it in a pdf, use a pagination program to make signatures. Print them up, fold them

I'm not sure where I'm going to get my fabric now. We are fortunate to have Quilter's Haven here in town, but their patterns are more...subdued? than the incredible JoAnn offerings. I'm going to be focusing on getting those Medical Bills finished, and then get that printer and heat press.

Making of Books is going pretty well. I'm devastated to hear about JoAnn though. JoAnn has been a staple for my entire life. I loved the stores, the wild fabrics, and the amazing deals. I will admit I loved the boxes and mugs that they sold around Halloween. I have so many cute little Witchy cups.
