The law around trans equality is fundamentally broken. Government inaction is hanging trans people and organisations out to dry - with a confusing mess of challenging rules and lawfare.

The rollout of faith-based initiatives across US states from 1996-2009 led to increased church attendance among protestants, new faith-based organisations, & the hardening of views against abortion & homosexuality. The rest of the population continued to secularise. cepr.org/voxeu/column... #EconSky
The figure shows event-study estimates of church attendance for Protestants and non-Protestants, relative to the year before a state’s first faith-based initiative.

The White House Faith Office is expanding federal support for religious organisations. Can government policy change how religious citizens are, and what does blurring the line between church and state do to attitudes and polarisation? Exploiting the staggered rollout of ‘faith-based initiatives’ across US states from 1996 to 2009, this column shows that church attendance rose sharply among Protestants, new faith-based organisations multiplied, and social views hardened against abortion and homosexuality, while the rest of the population continued to secularise.
