France makes Henry Tudor king of England. Henry then refuses to accept France taking control of Brittany to whom he sends soldiers. The French call him ungrateful. Anglo-French relations decline and drift towards war. Then, Perkin Warbeck, a French-sponsored challenger to Henry's throne appears 🤔

A lot gets written about Perkin Warbeck, but few ever delve deeper than the surface, merely taking Warbeck's claim at face value, or his confession. More attention needs to be paid to the murky world of late 15th century international diplomacy nathenamin.substack.com/p/when-perki...

Feeling a little 1: Wide-eyed and innocent or maybe 7: Seen better days? These delightfully creepy dolls from our collections have plenty of personality—and maybe a ghost story or two to tell! 👻
A grid of nine vintage dolls, each numbered 1 to 9, showcasing a range of eerie and worn appearances. The dolls vary in style and era, from porcelain-faced figures in old-fashioned clothing to heavily weathered or unsettling expressions. The title reads: "On a scale of 1-9, which haunted doll are you?"

It's a meme. Robin says, "Fishbourne roman vill..." and batman whacks Robin around the face while saying "We're a PALACE". We're hoping the person we're re-posting with this meme doesn't take offense. It's all done with a big smile and a hug.

Something wonderful for the weekend! About 40,000 years ago, during the #IceAge, an ancient artist skilfully sculpted this tiny head of a cave lion from mammoth ivory. It is one of the World’s oldest known works of figurative art. 📷 by me #Archaeology
My photo shows the left side profile of a head of a cave lion made of mammoth ivory some 40,000 years ago (Aurignacian culture). The ivory would originally have been white in colour but is now a light creamy brown with a surface sheen, and darker patches caused by time spent buried in the ground. Carved details include mouth, nose, eyes, and ears. There is cross hatching behind the ears to indicate the mane. It measures 2.95 cm in length x 2.11 cm height.

Beautiful #IceAge art. About 15,000 years ago, this lovely and realistic depiction of two deer was engraved on a piece of reindeer bone. From the Chauffaud Cave, France. Collection Musée d'archéologie nationale - Domaine national de Saint-Germain-en-Laye 📷 by me #Archaeology #AncientBlueSky 🏺
A piece of reindeer foot-bone incised with an engraving of two hinds (female deer) shown standing in profile, and facing left, one behind the other. The heads of both are shown in detail with two ears, muzzle, mouth, and left eye. Their coats are representated by closely incised lines. The depiction of the second hind (on right) is more fragmentary with legs, and the rear part of the body, and tail missing.
