So far, no party has included the Canada Workers Benefit in their 2025 platform. But some ( 👀 the NDP) have made other commitments to support low-income Canadians.
Who will protect it? So far, no party has included the CWB in their 2025 platform. But some have made other commitments to support low-income Canadians.

For example, the NDP’s tax plan is projected to provide the most savings for lower-income earners making between
$14,000 and $31,000.

We want to see the Canada Workers' Benefit expanded and improved!! guess who won’t even commit to maintaining the current CWB? 👀 Pierre Poilievre and the conservative party *womp womp*
Who will risk it? The Conservatives’ latest promise to reduce taxes is projected to benefit the richest 30%, while providing almost no savings to low income workers.

At the same time, Conservatives have made no mention of the CWB during this election period. This means no commitments to maintain or improve the CWB.
Conservatives have said that they will cut spending on programs if they win the next election.

Many Canadians living in poverty are working (often multiple jobs). While not perfect, the Canada Workers Benefit puts more money in low income workers' pockets to help cope with the rising cost of living.

guess who hasn't said a peep about the Canada Child Benefit this election, and won't even commit to maintaining the current benefit structure? 👀 PP and the conservative party *womp womp*
Who will risk it? In 2016, Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives voted against the CCB expansion, which included giving more money to families and making it non-taxable. The Conservatives’ latest policy principles (2023) makes no mention of the CCB at all. This means no commitments to maintain or improve the CCB. Conservatives have said that they will cut spending on social programs if they win the election. Little pictures of Pierre pop out of the corner of the page. What is it? The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a tax-free monthly payment given to families with children under the age of 18. Every family with kids in Canada that makes less than $200k per year gets the benefit.
The CCB puts cash directly in the hands of families. From 2016-2019, the CCB has helped 435,000 families out of poverty (Employment and Social Development Canada, 2021). Cutting the CCB will take money away from families who need it to pay rent, buy groceries, and survive.

the Canada Child Benefit is a cash benefit that goes to every family in Canada that makes less than $200k per year. We want to see some minor improvements to the program, but it is really close to the type of basic income we want to see! we want federal parties to commit to maintaining the CCB!
TL;DR: The Conservative Party and Poilievre claim to care about children and families, but want to cut programs that support them. They won’t commit to protecting the Canada Child Benefit or affordable child care programs. We want to see the CCB protected and expanded, and we don’t trust the Conservatives to do that.
