Just got home from a meeting about a street re-design (if you're a neighbor it's the South Main St project), and I have to say I'm impressed that the general public seems to feel traffic is too fast and that the city isn't doing enough to address it.

One last thought about last night's City of Riverside Vision Zero meeting. Someone was complaining that the city was projected to grow by 60,000 by 2040. "Where will they all go?" That growth is 17.8% between 2020-2040. So rough math 8.9% a decade or less than 1% a year.

Cities should be paying people to bike. Cities should be buying people e-bikes. Cities should be rewarding people for convincing neighbors to ride bikes. Every trip by bike is a net financial gain socially. And it compounds, the more people who do it.

I tried to get my tomatoes through the worst of the summer heat, but the last few weeks have been brutal. I tore two of them out today and the other 6 look pretty bad even after some heavy pruning. The rescued from the nursery's trash four look pretty good, but aren't flowering.
