I can't do spooky and scary but I still enjoy a bit of Halloween spirit, so for the first night of October I'm rewatching a classic. Halloween is Grinch Night. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygSE... If you've never seen it, set aside half an hour for a very different look at Whovile.

If you've been following my FFXI shenanigans than you might be interested in this. www.playonline.com/pcd2/topics/... FFXI has had its free trial updated to be more inline with FFXIV, now there are no longer any playtime restrictions and you can level up to 75 (Previously 50).

I love it when my ARFID kicks in as soon as my dinner is delivered. I'm excited for my dominos but can't get myself to actually bite into anything because it feels like I'll immediately puke if I do. so it's just sitting here, cooling down as I try to force myself to eat. 🙃

Garffeld Pt 15

3 panel Garffeld comic: panels 1 and 2, Nergal is sitting next to Garffeld who thinks, "Nergal thinks himself a comely cat; a picture of vanity. I hate vanity."; panel 3, Nergal thinks, "Envy is no less a sin deserving of hate in the eyes of God."

The greatest tragedy of my home cooking is I've never seen a tortilla I didn't believe in. You can hold all that honey, just stretch a bit! And thus I have three very overstuffed "burritos" that will not close and while delicious look awful. I should find a better, bigger, brand of tortilla.

Today the dog chose suffering for me so I decided I might as well take advantage of a bad mood and do costco. And if I'm already doing badly what is one more bad choice. Chicken bakes Ive missed you! Fuck my allergy to pork, gimme that toasty goodness.

So fucking frustrated. I'm trying to be a good person and send my business to local artists, friends of friends. So I contact one to do an indoor mural for my office. After they missed the mark so bad on their initial draft I gave them some better references. They fed that to AI, artist fired.

I went and wrote this thread with all my thoughts on leveling everything to 50 (or higher) solo w/Trusts, but if you just wanted the tier list, here you go. Please do not take this as an endorsement or indictment beyond SOLO WITH TRUSTS. I know WHM is extremely important in endgame with real people.

Thing complete! All jobs at 50+ in FFXI, now I can slap whoever as a subjob, at least until mastery shenanigans. /COR is a busted leveling option 8-24% bonus XP at all times as long as you don't bust is huge. I was gonna leave several jobs at 50 or 60 but now getting everything to 99 seems easy.

Please clap, I did laundry, kitchen cleaning, storage, socializing, and gaming today. I think I will be paying for this all week. At least my blinds are getting installed on Wednesday. It'll make sleeping in on Thursday easier. 😪

With the completion of Seekers of Adoulin I've now finished all of the "main" story content in FFXI (expansions). I still have the scenarios and add-on packs but I think it's time for a break first. I loved playing FFXI but I need some time away to decide what to do next.

BariTengineer @baritengineer.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

I haven't posted much about FFXI because other life stuff was going on and I wasn't as interested in the story. Well the last few days I've latched back onto Wings of the Goddess and have as of now completed it. I'm kind of tired of time travel in general in my stories, but this had some fun twists.

It was absolutely wonderful having my friends over for the weekend to hang out and do some good food. But man I'm wiped. I'm glad I can just take the rest of the day to shut my brain off and grind in some RPGs with leftovers and soda.

BariTengineer @baritengineer.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

The puzzle I bought! I haven't done jigsaw puzzles in a long time so a set of 16 100-piece puzzles seemed a great way to get back to it.

There's never a good time for a chronic pain flare up but in the shower as I'm getting ready for errands is pretty low on the list for acceptable times. Doesn't matter, work through the pain. Errands still have to get run. Body still has to get clean.

The push and pull between knowing today is Labor Day and the irony of going out to get food on a day about workers not having to work as much, and realizing you haven't eaten all day at 5pm and not having the energy to make something at home. Oops. So anyone tried the Jack in the Box Philly burgers?

BariTengineer @baritengineer.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Treasures of Aht Urhgan complete. I'm working through the FFXI expansions at a good clip. 4/6 done (Zilart, Promathia, ToAU, Rhapsodies), Wings of the Goddess next. I'm glad to be done with ToAU, not my favorite story or jobs, but I love the zones aesthetically at least.

WTF @warframe.com this is bullshit and I know that the people at [DE] know it. FOMO events are total garbage and give me every reason to stop playing. I do *not* have the focus to complete things like this in these short windows so instead I'm dropping warframe instead of hyped for Tau. #NoMoreFOMO

And so if you watch it you can just get the fuck away from me. This is the simplest thing to do and because you are nostalgia-addled and unable to grow as a person, you can't let go. Let go. Or get going.

Finished the last fight of Chains of Promathia and then saw this BS. Used the time to do some unlocks and go back to the final fight of Rhapsodies of Vanadiel and give that another go. Took it down with some upgraded gear and some cheese but a win is a win. 🤷 FFXI has some cruft but it's still fun.

Playing games with your friends for 6 hours is awesome. The 2 hour nap after feels great too. Waking up to the realization you forgot to put the leftovers of lunch away and now you gotta toss it? Less great. Oops

FFXI: Rise of the Zilart complete! I blitzed it by being on a level 99 job, but guides say use sneak anyway so close enough. I enjoyed the story and the FF14 parallels keel piling up. Can't wait to ding into Chains of Promathia this week.

Please clap, when I had a 45 minute wait in FFXI instead of picking up food I decided to make my own dinner. Unfortunately I had some cheese and a bit of left over sauce I needed to use and now I have this awaiting my pasta. I'm attempting to salvage by baking the pasta, but I may be screwed.

Did I stay up until 3am playing FFXI? Maybe, but hey, spectacular progress today. Summoner unlocked, Zilart story advanced a bit, lots of merit points and leveling jobs. I'm certainly getting good use of my sub, here is hoping the hyperfixation lasts!

I have hit the point in FFXI where I am completing RoE objectives so quickly that I have both capped my sparks usage, and my sparks for the week. So now I'm delaying turning on new one-time quests, which I usually do by reflex now. And it's only Friday, I have almost 2 whole days to wait!

I hate how the surveillance of your groceries *literally* pays you. The member savings are what you get just for giving them your phone number, "For U" is for using their app and scanning your stuff in store. Literally 2 hours of min wage work for using the app. Nuts. Literally a quarter my costs
