I mistyped an email sign off as “all the bees” instead of “all the best”. I reckon I’m going to stick with it. I can’t think of anything negative that can possibly come of wishing someone all the bees.

Californian coastal redwoods. Really interesting comparing it to UK woodland and seeing the various niches filled in different ways
A dirt path curving through very tall, straight coastal redwoods. There is a small stream crossing the path with a plank over for stepping over. The sun is filtering through the trees.

There's still time to book a free visit from a humanist school speaker before the end of term. Give your students the opportunity to ask their questions about non-religious worldviews. understandinghumanism.org.uk/school-speak...

A walk up a hill with a friend is the restorative medicine I needed
A tarmacked single track lane stretches off into the distance, through Cornish moorland. A drystone wall is on the right hand side of the road. In the distance are more hills dotted with sheep and a couple of houses.

Perfect day at the beach
Blue sky above a green hill and a calm sea. A pebbly and sandy beach in the foreground. A small island is in the sea in the midground.

Beautiful Cornwall in the spring sunshine
Very blue sky above moorland, with almost-bare trees on the horizon, green gorse bushes in the midground, and boggy grasses in the foreground

St Cleer Parish covers much of the Southern part of Bodmin moor. Golitha Falls, just outside the parish (wrong side of the Fowey, in St Neot parish), is closer to St Cleer than St Neot. It's a patch of temperate rainforest, where we run events such as bat and UV light walks and a butterfly transect.
In the photograph you can see the River Fowey running over moss covered rocks and boulders with occasional sections of white water, the channel is overhung by some green moss lader branches. Golitha Falls are more a set of rapids than a true waterfall.

The most emotional part of getting the house ready for sale has been packing up the garden. Dismantling the greenhouse to give to a friend. Realising I'll not see this year's pears on the scrawny pear tree.

Apparently I have cracked a rib. No more packing or decorating for me for a while.

Getting the house ready to sell. Exhausted, and everywhere I look there's something that needs doing, but at least it distracting me from the news!

SLO airport is the chillest airport I've ever been in. Calm, quiet. Comfort dogs to help everyone stay happy. My favourite airport.

A good start to 2025!
Grover Beach, California.View straight out to sea from a sandy beach. There are a few footprints, but no people. Waves are rolling gently in, the sky is very blue with little clouds on the horizon. Land is just visible on the right hand side.

Kitchen looks so much cosier in candlelight
Four jars, each in a different patterned crochet container, and each with a lit tealight, hang in front of a horizontally slatted blind in a darkened room. It is night outside, just seen through the slats.

Woke up to rain this morning - I'm in California, wtf? I thought I'd avoid the Cornish mizzle, but it's followed me.
