These results are literally, not figuratively, literally all noise-floor-level results. Most have ~15 regions proposed, of which more than half are >25% in error, each with at least two approaching or surpassing 40%. They have no confidence in these results whatsoever. But published them anyway.

A late-night follow-up on this, the next day: There is a MONUMENTAL Reddit thread about this singular update being grotesquely incorrect, and it's one of several dozen. I went through all my various tests and checked: Not a single one has a region with an error bar that doesn't include 0%.

In the previous update, Ancestry not only had the Slave Coast location down, they isolated SPECIFIC PEOPLES in Africa who shared that DNA. Where does it come from in this current update? Fucking Quebec. Not natives in Quebec, no. FRENCH Quebec. ...!?!?!?

Melungeon communities fit every one of these check boxes: They're poorer communities, all in Appalachia, with darker complexions that they generally claim comes from native ancestry, though likely at least also originates in Africa. So, again, all of this made sense. It disappears entirely here.

My grandfather's ancestry has proven EXTREMELY difficult to trace out. His various ancestral families had always been poor, from Appalachia; there had been stories, based on certain ancestors' darker complexions, that they were some form of native, or descendants thereof.

Case study 3: My grandfather. Ever since first getting his test results, my grandfather has had a SMALL amount of DNA from Africa. (This was confirmed with him, as other DNA tests he'd done also show this.) In the previous update, Ancestry had traced this to the Slave Coast, which makes sense.

My mom shows 7% (err 0-41%), and her mother, where it comes from, shows 8% (err 0-41%). Said grandmother got almost all of it from her father--

Less than one percent shows up in what Ancestry THINKS is my paternal DNA, but it CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE FROM. Second case study: Bavaria and Eastern Austria. Ancestry claims 4%, with an error from 0% to THIRTY-FUCKING-NINE. This absolutely comes from my mom, as her 2nd-great grandmother--

Case study: Belgium shows up in my results at 4%, with an error bar allowing results from 0% to 20%. Which, that's more error than result, but moving on: Neither of my parents have it. Ostensibly, 4% of it came from my mom, but, she doesn't have it. HER father has it, at 3%, but that's it.

Apple Maps cannot, for the life of it, figure out or process traffic stops as a result of road work. I was stopped at one point for maybe five minutes, during which time the silly thing added TWO HOURS to my ETA. Then, another point down the road, about ten minutes--same thing!

Even EXPLICITLY telling it that I want to hear the album, assuming you can get through the filter, it still assumes the song. I think I ended up saying, "The name of the album I want you to play, in full, is 'Raised on Radio'. That is the name of the album. Please play that album," which did it.

Debated taking the fecal for Alex in today; when I woke up I was still pretty wiped, and I wasn't sure what the road work situation was gonna be. But, decided to do it anyway. It was all clear! So, if he had indeed eaten anything local, it appears it hadn't had any parasites in it.
