in fantasy i badly wish Watson wasn't a 5th round pick this year because i felt confident that i saw something about him in the stats i look at but the cost just didn't reflect the risk that you're mentioning at all

generally speaking with the Packers, their self-evaluation of their own roster is beyond comprehension ever since they let Aaron Jones and Davante Adams leave. Kraft was behind Musgrave, and then a distant 4th option until he forced his way in; Watson seemingly relegated to 2nd to an 'ok' Reed etc

re:christian watson. Watson was basically an elite yards-per-target option against all coverage prior to this year but just wasn't getting as much of them due to his team not aiming his way when seeing zone coverage. if that has shifted this year, then theres no argument against him

although i think there were many people who saw Watson as being the clear #2 to Kraft on his team or even more of a "in case the Packers are losing, a lot" play whereas the truth of his situation is that he, on his own, carries real gravity

i wish i had picked him more often, despite what i thought about his upside i second-guessed myself too much here

i don't think i've made any posts before about him but Chase Brown is one of the most JAG of JAG Rbs out there, and the level of insulation he had because of the weak RB room behind him was enticing enough to give him a fringe top 5 RB case. Now he's splitting carries with Perine?

through 1 half, germie is tied for team lead in targets but not much else. there is a lot of room for him in this offense right now

i wasn't watching that 2nd down play by the Jaguars, but after everything that's happened in this game for the Jagaurs to not make their final game-winning target go to Parker Washington, and instead choose their 5th option Rookie, is a nearly unbelievable coaching error

i think coaching really matters on the margins mostly but in some places a teams scheme/identity matters a lot, and i think once the Jaguars/Coen realize that Bhayshul Tuten is not an engine for their offense, they can finally unlock the "We have Amon-Ra at home" offense that Parker is offering them

I would imagine by mid-point of the season the jaguars will figure out that giving Parker less than 8 targets a game is a mistake but I don’t know how they haven’t figured that out already

yes, Wilson's spikes are nice and he's so far been an effective target after 10 yards. The problem for him is his usage under 10 yards is very minimal, and what he's done there is ineffective (which might explain why). An "Effective" Bernard could cut into the intermediate while taking the Short

turns out all you have to do to make your offense fantasy viable is not run 3 TEs and let your QB throw it

Pittman going to IR puts Roman Wilson in a very strong spot, but i'm not sure if he can capitalize. So far, Roman's usage is essentially that of Kayshon Boutte which has a limited ceiling in such a weak offense. I think if i had Germie Bernard in a dynasty, i'd feel pretty good on his chances

marlon humphrey is 30 years old and saying he doesn't know what he believes in. what he thinks. what his politics are. he will have made 120 million dollars and figuring out for the first time in his life, apparently, what he believes in. i don't expect to be surprised by where that ends up

Is the NFL figuring something out about developing QBs? I’m not fully bought into Bryce, but he’s clearly better than he ever was before. And that would be the second player to go through a Josh Allen-esque transformation, not counting lesser ones like Malik Willis

i think based on the usage, the Chargers staffs opinion of their own players is incredibly far from everyone elses opinion of them This ship is so sunk if they are under the impression there is no discernable difference between hampton/vidal/keaton and also mcconkey and all other receivers

roman wilson is such a weird case, Steelers are always saying how much they love him and are ready to bench him permanently. to this point he has not been special, the underlying stats that i like do not point to anything positive yet, but i still picked up roman off the FA pool in some leagues

also a weird take but baker is such a lunatic of a player that sitting for a few weeks after starting bad and getting to do nothing but watch the criticism of him post-contract is the exact type of vengeance narrative that has driven him to play well time and time again so

meanwhile, Bucky's yards before and after contact are currently at or above league average (teammate Gainwell is below on both, for comparison). both of them have strong arguments as Buys right now, and probably more-so if the backup QB makes them cheaper to buy

Baker's regression/injury is so poorly timed with both Bucky Irving and Emeka Egbuka having nearly fixed every issue from last year Egbuka's WR31 in PPR but is doing much, much better in the intermediate and short areas and just missing the big plays to hit his ceiling (0 for 4 on deep targets)

Pat Bryant rostered in 16% of leagues. Makes sense, he's the teams WR3 against 2 notable names (Sutton, Waddle). But there's something maybe going on here? I don't think Bryant is some hidden gem but Sutton is not doing his best three games into his age 30 season. very deep shot

the Packers were very open about how much they loved Skyy Moore all offseason. Designing plays for him, looking for things to do with him. I don't know why. I can't imagine why really. it's a mystery to everyone. I'll be checking the box score every week on him now

i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
and the other side of this- how is it possible that an offense going as well the jaguars right now is not getting any YAC out of their receivers? Lawrence is dead last at YAC/reception amongst league starters and the Jagaurs are 10th in points? which way regresses first?

my personal bet is that if Rice doesn't adjust his game his long-term future is closer to a Shakir role than an Amon-Ra one, but that doesn't matter much in 2026 since the team will use what they have
000
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
maybe i'm unclear but Rice has gone from "WR6-8 who may be able to rival Amon-Ra" on just football terms to "WR12-15" and thats a pretty big drop! and unless his game adjusts significantly, it might drop further after this season ends

Parker Washington leads the jaguars in Deep, Intermediate, and Short targets and receptions. He's the WR10 in PPR. However, he (and every other TE/WR on the Jaguars) have absolutely zero YAC on the season. Like, less than 20 yards each through 3 games. That's a lot of room for upside still

i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
i agree, that's why its worth having him in 2026

i would not tell anyone they made a mistake by drafting rice this year for redraft, WR15 ADP is a very fair for the range of outcomes Rice offers. but losing what used to be an automatic 7 PPG because of 4 designed screens per game going for 28 yards is going to be felt long-term
010
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
@shyhumble.bsky.social i'm gonna respond to both- i agree that there is still upside to be had and am willing to buy him- his weekly floor is lower than ever but his ceiling is still high; however i think his long-term career projection has strongly changed without any off-field consideration
010
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
i know that with players/topics i am a broken record and probably none more-so than Quentin Johnston and deep regression, but Chargers...i think i can tell you what the problem with your offense is

i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
i'm making the bet/projection that he does not return to his previous role

i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
wow that is some interesting usage. that has to be 'unprepared backup' type of use right?
010
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
thats exactly what i'm trying to say, There is no way any team goes into a season thinking "i am going to make the focal point of my offense revolve around throwing 3 yard passes"
020
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
as the season goes on the Chiefs will keep looking for ways to get Rice more involved since Worthy is not panning out (i'm going to try to trade for Rice myself since i believe this is his lowest window) but i think the future for Rice is either adapt into a real WR, or be forced into Khalil Shakir
100
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
linked related reply, but yes it would be. unfortunately a shrinking volume that further depends on efficiency starts placing rice closer and closer to Khalil Shakir than Amon-Ra, where he used to be a contemporary of Amon-Ra
000
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Rice was formerly a top 5 target getter and volume producer, he's now the teams #2 or shared #1 to a 37 year old on a retirement tour and is WR23 so far on the season on PPR, a place he used to scam into a locked-in top 8 spot. He's fine, but he's not the elite fantasy guy anymore

Rashee Rice career ADOT year by year and rank amongst WRs who actually get targets: 2023: 5.0 (96/96) 2024: 5.2 (110/113) 2025: 4.9 (90/91) 2026: 7.0 (82/95) A real OC saw this very gimmickly-used WR and said "yeah i'm not building my offense around that?"

speaking of Nagy/Mahomes- on top of Mahomes statistical resurgence is the complete drop off of Rashee Rice. I gave up on fighting against the tide of Rice although i think ive always held onto the belief that the clock would come for him (on a just-football-level) and it turns out, it was Nagy

I personally don’t think Coker and Tremayne are very far apart in talent although Coker seems to be a better deep target (possibly foreshadowing his move to a kind of deep X role?) and Tremayne has shown more potential as a slot/short one
010
i'm expert @bantsby.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
For the second year in a row, Tremayne is popping up and doing more than expected. In my deepest of deep league, he is again on my roster. This is a league where Ronnie Rivers and Jahdae Walker are also on my roster

this is about Christian Watson, and its still early in the season but his targets have finally increased to 10 per game across 3 games and he's a top 5 WR so far on the season

Is Mike McDaniel actually just another Chip Kelly? A guy who ran a sort of gimmick offense with 1 exploit into elite territory and then watched it get figured out until he became totally useless?
