I had forgotten about bluesky until some of my favorite authors mentioned this platform at worldcon. Maybe it’s time to dust this off!

Got my kids asking “Is this Spider-Man?” Every time they show a new trailer at the Xbox games showcase 😂

A new romance bookshop opened up in town and I’m so excited to find a local community of book lovers! Got a good haul today

A stack of books with the top book titled “I Got Abducted by Aliens and now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com” by Kimberly Lemming in front of a pink phone and a neon sign that says “Leave a Message”

Had to pause after reading this one. I lost a good friend to cancer at 19 and sometimes I forget how young we were. Book is Long Live Evil by @sarahreesbrennan.bsky.social

Quote from a book: “Lia was only nineteen. Rae
remembered turning twenty, spending the day in the grip of furious, uncontrollable tears. She'd raged because so many heroes were teenagers, even in books meant for adults. It felt like the age of magic was over for her, and all there was left to do was die.
Nineteen-year-olds could die, too.”

There will still be parks and grocery stores and people out with their dogs. You will just have things you cannot say, places you cannot attend in groups larger than a certain amount.

Meta’s algorithm promotes conflict. I try to avoid threads because it’s so messy!

Every time I watch #whitelotus I think of what it would be like if they featured a family with young kids then I remember that Daphne and Cameron left their kids at home last season for a reason

There’s good books where you can’t stop reading, and good books where you just want to take your time and savor the story. Sometimes I want to rush through my books but at the end of the day I want to make sure I enjoy it my way

Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman and we are no longer publishing his works. Confirming that the Anansi Boys comic series and collected volume have been cancelled.

I’m not done with Onyx Storm yet but one thing that stuck out to me during Rebecca Yarros’ panel was how she felt a lot more confident writing this book. It really shows and I’m enjoying it more than I did Iron Flame #booksky #romantasy #onyxstorm

I love this list! Just thought I’d point out that SA Chakraborty has asked not to be added to these types of lists www.sachakraborty.com/about.html

Screenshot stating “In regards to identity, Shannon is a white convert to Islam; a faith and community in which she's found great solace and one that has significantly influenced her work. At this point in her career, she prefers to keep her personal and family life private, but if you're interested in reading more, you can do so here. She should not be considered for lists of BIPOC writers.”

I tried but it’s really hard on a reread. You already know what happens so it’s harder to ignore the flaws. I’ve been dreading the Iron Flame reread because of it

bananabelle @bananabelle.bsky.social · 20/01/2025

Finished my Fourth Wing reread. Its flaws are so much more glaringly painful on a reread. I don’t think I’ll finish Iron Flame before Onyx Storm but I do want to try avoiding the internet as much as possible tomorrow so who knows how far I’ll get 🤷🏻‍♀️ #booksky #romantasy #empyrean #fourthwing
