Ayaka Nakata directed, boarded, and co-painted the color script for Kusuriya's new opening. Not as striking as her S2 intro, but at its best it showcases her ability to sublimate core ideas of a series into OP imagery that will stick with you. Love the lavish animation by Odashi in cuts 3-4 here

Now that we're closing out the year of Koucha Agasawa, comparisons are bound to pop up between this and Polar Opposites. Can't help but love them both but I lean more towards Ramparts seeing as I'm a big sucker for serious melodramatic angst.

Ramparts of Ice return was even more impactful than I'd hoped. They even got Akiyo Oohashi on the ED and it's simply immaculate, especially the latter half. Really liked how the episode itself upped the dramatic heaviness, it makes last cour's cliffhanger more quintessential as a marker of tone.

One noticeable change from the novel I really loved was the enhanced focus on Airi and Yuki's emotional bond. From minute excursions into their intimacy to anime original segments that highlight their shared psychological angst, it helps add new layers of characterization.

Thankfully the movie still retains the themes that were originally conveyed, like the expectations of living up to the legacy that defines us. The more nuanced portrayal of Yuki's inner struggles and euphoric hysteria allows more peak visualizations to bear fruit.

Cloudy Beach, as an adaptation, isn't without its faults, but we can chalk that up to Ueno doing whatever the hell he wants. Again. It's by and large transformative in intent, especially when Ueno takes alternative pathways from the original source, mainly Yuki's introspections
