Here's Begonia tayabensis, a Rhizomatous type of species Begonia w/distinctive foliage from the Philippines. Shiny, teardrop shaped deep green leaves. Blooms: small, pink. Origin: Merrill, Philipp. Published: 1918. Able to tolerate 58 degree nights in winter greenhouses. Easy to grow.🌱 #begonias

This trailing African Begonia does not have the usual yellow blooms, but when it's trained on a small trellis or wire frame, I think it can be quite pretty. It is incredibly easy to grow, too. B. loranthoides ssp. rhopalocarpa🌱

Candy Cane Chocolate Cherry sweet peppers. Intense variegation, along with chunky flesh, makes these quite slow to ripen, but they're a real joy when they do. Like a stick of rock, the striping goes all the way through, so they look incredible when sliced into rings (will try to get a pic) 🌱🌶️
Five red peppers, flecked with raindrops, sit on a wooden table. They are oval in shape, striped with black, and about 3 inches long. The calyxes are striped green and cream.

Buddleja indica (as Nicodemia diversifolia) used to be a popular foliage houseplant. The flowers aren’t much to look at. The shallowly lobed leaves inspired its (misleading) common name “Indoor Oak.” Of course, it’s not related to oaks. #Buddleja #Scrophulariaceae #Botany 🌾🧪🌱

There are other garden-worthy species of Buddleja. Check out the lush flowers of Buddleja colvilei, a species from China. I should mention that the genus name has been spelled Buddleia, & it’s still found under that name in older references. #Buddleja #Scrophulariaceae #Botany 🌾🧪🌱

Desmodium incanum has very unusual fruits for a legume. It has loments, which break apart into 1-seeded segments. The loments stick to fur (& fabric) because they are covered with hooked (J-shaped) hairs. Very effective dispersal. #Fabaceae #epizoochory #Botany 🌾🧪🌱
