Another option is scale up vSHORAD systems like starstreak for small to medium sized UAVs launched inside the UK from covert or contracted actors. Or a combination of the three for the most critical defence and defence industrial sites like Faslane and QRA stations.

Another option is ordering 4 medium range sky sabre batteries a year. Covers cruise missile and large UAV segment but not ballistics. Logical follow on order to current plans. By 2030 could cover around 20 air / naval bases, intel and radar sites, and sub/ship/munitions manufacturing sites.

An option is buy a SAMP-T NG battery per year. Addressss ballistic & cruise missile threat from Ru. But the first battery would be standing up around 2030. 2nd I. 2031. Etc. So cover say Faslane, then Barrow, then maybe sites like Flyingdales, GCHQ, QRA stations. Not much CNI and slow expansion.

BBC News - Tories pledge £10bn for British anti-missile defence system www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... A lot of confusion in this...but perhaps the key weakness in UK defence. Clearing not an iron dome style requirement. Is it layered defence or a specific layer of GBAD.

1. #MedievalSky, grab a lifejacket and a seasickness bag, we’re casting off on a thread about the Norman invasion fleet in 1066! 960 years ago, the Normans landed at Pevensey and established a base at the Roman shore fort which was already succumbing to erosion from the sea on its south side. 1/20

I meant to mark the dragoons as wheeled due to being on boxer IFV, alongside the hussars on boxer CRV, and the horse artillery on boxer SPG. So only the lancers on tracks.

Just a bit of fun reaching back into regimental origins, so hussars would be recce and dragoons would be dismounting to fight and lancers as tankies, cos well it's obvious. Then the division owns the force generation regiments for all its battalions so they train together to fight as a formation.

The news today is that Canada formallly applied to join the UK-led JEF. Back in May, I was asked about this possibility. In short, the idea aligns well with Carney's internatonal strategy, but the problem remains that Canada's military is over-stretched. www.britainsworld.org.uk/p/the-big-as...

I've felt this ever since Brexit. The scales of optimism fell away on that day. There is no wisdom of the crowd. The weight of facts and logic are irrelevant. Democracy is transient emotion in the form of the ballot. The future is just chaos, passing bluster, and freak chance.

A sensible prospectus. But fails to mention 5 Eyes in an IP context, the fall out of withdrawing from the Five Power Defence Agreement, and pulls its punches on reorientation of the British army's contribution to NATO to the high north and withdrawing from the ARRC commitment in exchange for CASD.
