@rajivdparikh "This misses the point. @GovSherrillNJ eliminated the ability of the Trump admin to create a pretext to make NJ into the next Minnesota for an ICE "surge". This is exactly how to protect our neighbors from illegal Federal overreach while also ensuring safe free speech & protests."

Context: We don't even have to link to stuff because you know, you've seen it. NJSP was wilding outside #DelaneyHall and Governor Sherrill owns all of it. Gave Trump the win while eating all the blow back. The police sent a message loud and clear, the Governor doesn't control them. They are outlaws.

@RepJoshG's tweet: ".@RepRashida is forcing a vote next week to back Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed designated Foreign Terrorist Organization that has American blood on its hands.

Hezbollah killed 220 U.S. Marines in their barracks in 1983 and assisted the bombings of our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998. They are also responsible for the second deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust in Argentina in 1994, and now, they relentlessly target Israeli civilians with rockets in direct violation of their ceasefire with Israel.

Hezbollah is evil — kneecapping our ability to track and respond to their terror serves nobody except Hezbollah and its Iranian overlords."

Ok, now that we got that out of the way. Gottheimer, one of many Zionists who decry tortured connections between anti-Zionism and antisemitism, has absolutely no problem trying to paint all Arabs, all Muslims, all dissent as terrorists. This language from these leaders makes everyone less safe.

It's also completely false. Tlaib's resolution calls for an end to the violent Israeli invasion and occupation, an end to the crimes against humanity, war crimes, ethnic cleansing. Hundreds of the thousands of Lebanese are being threatened, displaced, and killed. That's not Hezbollah.

It's also ahistorical. Hezbollah formed to resist the Israeli invasion & occupation of Lebanon in 1982. B/c history doesn't start the first time someone responds to Israeli aggression. The South of Lebanon has been an area for Palestinian refugees as well, from a century of Israeli ethnic cleansing.

Unlike the many online trolls who push these ignorant narratives, Gottheimer knows better and has instant access to experts, including Jewish and Israeli historians and foreign relations experts, if he was interested in the truth. Instead he spreads disinformation, encouraging violent response.

But after publication of this story on Wednesday, he said that Charles Murphy temporarily worked at Evident Insights after graduating college, which describes itself as an “intelligence platform that benchmarks and tracks AI adoption across the financial services sector.” He is no longer employed by the company. Gunaratna also noted that Emma Murphy also worked at Goldman Sachs for nearly three years (Phil Murphy was an executive at the investment bank earlier in his career)."

Context: Murphy, on his way out of office, appointed two of his children to a new public board charged with overseeing technological innovation in the state. His children do not have the expertise in technology necessary to hold the position. All after failing to coronate his wife Senator.

Murphy’s appointment of his children raises questions of nepotism — and not for the first time. Former first lady Tammy Murphy’s bid for Senate in 2024 drew so much opposition among grassroots Democrats that it inadvertently led to a wholesale change in how New Jersey’s ballots are designed, weakening its longtime party boss system."Screenshot from aeticleAccording to state law, the board’s members must have “expertise” in “data science; public engagement; the development and implementation of digital technologies and digital product development; and the digital delivery of products, services, or benefits.”

But the point is VA voters are out for blood. If you run candidates that are Republican Lite, on crime, Abolishing ICE, genocide, taxong millionaires, Abolishing Billionaires, healthcare, accountability, abortion, the Supreme Court, any of it, they will not feel seen and will not turn out for you.

His time has passed but he has a massive war chest. This would have been a great cycle to primary him. 2028 will likely be even better, especially if Trump continues to destroy the country & Gotthimer continues to obstruct policies that are priorities for D voters in his district & the country.

Hello #vapol it is I, #njpol, from the past with a warning for future you. Don't fall for the same bad takes that led NJ to run "Dems" like Josh Gottheimer to "purple" districts. Run radical candidates, take brave policy stands. Be Analilia Mejias in a House of Josh Gottheimers. Keep the takes good.

Don't even get us started on "New York New Jersey." What's NY providing? A closed train station? Get the fuck outta here. At least Eric Adams won't have a problem with the trains since he's coming from Fort Lee.

Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
So now we'll be pissing off hundreds of thousands of ordinary workers and other visitors to NYC most of which will have no clue about the World Cup schedule on 8 random days in June and July because NJ built a stadium in the middle of nowhere with no thought to how people would get there.
122
Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
So in proud FIFA World Cup tradition, local residents get absolutely shit on in service of a bunch of rich douchebags & nepobabies, big public transit users, watching some soccer games. This is before you even factor in ICE targeting the fans, players not getting visas to come to the US to play, etc

Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
Add another however many hours it'll take to get approximately a bazillion drunk soccer houlagans out of Secaucus station after the game. And the fact the trains turn around at Penn and some lines don't run into Penn so the connection via Secaucus is the only way to get home from NYC.
122
Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
Context: Because Gov Christie and later Pres Trump hated public transportation/infrastructure investments & hated NJ there's still a single two track tunnel under the Hudson, a huge bottle neck getting trains from NJ to New York City. FIFA, famously rigorous and process oriented, didn't care.

"After the match, trains will arrive empty at Secaucus and will be fully dedicated to egressing [FIFA World Cup 2026] spectators," the document said."

Booker's quiet part that he doesn't want to say out loud also plays on the antisemitic trope conflating Jews with the actions of the Israeli Government. Booker's support of a genocidal regime while using his platform to suppress criticism and prevent accountability ultimately makes Jews less safe.

Cory is trying to leave the accusation unsaid. Pretending AIPAC gets so much attention is because of antisemitism. But that quite obviously ignores the fact that no other country w/ massive US lobbying power is actively perpetrating a gencode & a genocide lite, while invading multiple companies.

There is an ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. It is funded and supported by the US, by both parties, see Senators Graham & Booker. Those same parties have acknowledged the Armenian genocide, despite Turkish PAC money fighting that activity.
111
Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 23/03/2026
Context: Maybe if Turkey, or Iran had an ongoing apartheid state, that had decades of support, weapons, and funding from the US, people would call them out more. People would call that out like they call out the apartheid in Occupied Palestine.

Screenshot of tweet by @CarolineVakil: "Asked by @lisakashinsky about the shift of opinions on AIPAC among Democrats and whether he personally would reject money from the group, @CoryBooker says "First and foremost, there is a singling out of AIPAC that is troubling to me."

Says there are Iranian Americans and Turkish Americans who bundle money, adding "There are a lot of ethnic groups that bundle money, and often for things that I don't agree with. But somehow, AIPAC seems to be drawing a lot of attention, and that's problematic to me," he says.

Goes on to say that he doesn't think anybody should be accepting PAC money from anyone."

Gov. Sherrill plan seeks to fine big companies with workers on Medicaid • New Jersey Monitor
Gov. Sherrill wants to fine large companies up to $725 annually per worker enrolled in Medicaid. Business groups oppose the plan.

Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 12/03/2026
The $725 NJ wants them to pay means they'd need to employ 23M people on Medicaid in states with such a policy to erase their profits. They could also just give them healthcare, you know, so they don't die.

Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 12/03/2026
Their effective tax rate in 2025 was 23.4%, about the same as a tax payer making $100-200k per year. They made about 100k times that in 2025. That's what Walmart thinks is sustainable and investing in NJ workers.
111
Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 12/03/2026
Context: Walmart made $17B in profit in the first 9-months of 2025. That may be of low margin sales, but that's still a shit ton of money they're raking in, in part because they underpay and under-employ their workers. All of that profit goes to the top execs as bonuses and to shareholders.
211
Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 12/03/2026
Screenshot from article "We also run a thin-margin business built on affordability. New targeted taxes raise system-wide costs and make groceries, essentials and pharmacy items more expensive for the very families these programs are meant to support. Strengthening Medicaid and public assistance requires sustainable funding solutions, not policies that single out employers investing in New Jersey workers and communities,” Walmart spokesman Jimmy Carter said in an email."

Overall... This fucking guy. A poster through & through. You can totally see him sending a letter in the 1930s, "Went to Adolf's book reading, valuable to hear first hand." Can we jump ahead to 2030 when he loses in the General to Andy Kim & the NJGOP throws him out too & he completes his Cuomo arc?

Fulop 4 Gov supporters need to evaluate their instincts & any vetting/endorsement processes that lead to them to back this clown. On the other hand, he clearly has no issue just blatantly lying to people's faces. Either progressives in NJ, capitalists in NYC, or fascists in DC are being fooled.
132
Bad NJ Politics Takes @badnjtakes.bsky.social · 25/02/2026
Context: (We know he's not NJ's problem anymore, except for the Jersey City's Budget shenanigans, and the inevitable lawsuits, but are we just supposed to ignore this Fetterman level Jekyll and Hyde lying to voters to just further your personal gain? Plus he probably transited NJ to get to DC)

Trump has been provoking this crisis since his first term. There's no time crunch, Josh. Stop whining about hating tolls and do your job by voting to restrain the madman in the White House and all the future occupants from starting wars in our name.

Because while Gottheimer wanted to federally legislate to cancel congestion pricing, he doesn't want to restrain our mad, wannabe king from starting a war of aggression that will kill thousands of not millions of people across the region.
