Couldn't straighten my arms after a workout, and when I searched for a fix, I found out that more exercise might help. Is this the adult equivalent of hair of the dog?

Officially published! My paper “Caring for Valid Sexual Consent” is out in the new issue of Hypatia! In this paper, I argue that consent, to be valid, requires trust, and in intimate contexts that trust is warranted through care. 📰 www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Karl was a man of great kindness and intellectual generosity. Though I wasn't his student, he took time to engage with my paper that drew on his work on Kant’s "The End of All Things", offering supportive feedback that meant the world to me.

The proper way to celebrate Kant’s birthday today is by taking an afternoon walk. Also getting drunk. He liked that too.

Shut up, Nietzsche.
It quite often happens that the old man is subject to the
delusion of a great moral renewal and rebirth, and from this
experience he passes judgments on the work and course of
his life, as if he had only now become clear-sighted; and yet
the inspiration behind this feeling of well-being and these
confident judgements is not wisdom, but weariness.

The most important thing to learn is to think for yourself. The second most important thing is that just because an idea is yours, that doesn't make it not stupid.

That's very early-career of me, but today I got an email with questions from some whos engaging with a paper of mine in their research, and it's really flattering! It's sometimes unimaginable that we get to write ideas and then they are out there for others to read and use.

Kid called in sick today, and I had to stay home with him. Two hours later I'm in a research group meeting, one of the participants is laying out a very structured argument, and in the moment that my son pops in all philosophical rigor goes away and we are left with a collective "own he's so cute!"
