Adam @babyfonzie.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Every five years or so for quite a while there will be an article that's like "the romance genre is huge, someone needs to give it the attention genres like SF or crime novels got and find the gems" but then that never happens, and this is why. 000
Adam @babyfonzie.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Check out this weird acoustic double neck. It's fretless, maybe for getting harp sounds? It's the Jubilee Singers with Al Jolson. 020
Adam @babyfonzie.bsky.social · 28/09/2026A thing I suspect but don't have evidence for is a wide variety of different men born around the Victorian era from Lovecraft to Bronson are said to have been "dressed as a girl" when they were young, but I think that was just little kid fashion at the time for several ethnicities. 120

Adam @babyfonzie.bsky.social · 22/09/2026In this 1942 Dick Tracy there are "request juke boxes" where you call a phone number from the box and a live woman plays a record for you? Does anyone know if these were real? It doesn't seem very efficient. Why not just have a DJ? It's a tough search term. 110

Adam @babyfonzie.bsky.social · 09/09/2026It's so funl in oral histories when they include a guy who lies all the time in there. In this case I'm talking about John Andrews in Rudolph Grey's Ed Wood book Nightmare of Ecstacy. 010

Adam @babyfonzie.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I never watched the Jerry Lewis telethon when I was a kid and he was on it for the whole time, it's pretty nuts. This 1984 one starts with him mad at the viewers for donation calls slowing down from Midnight-6 am, it takes a while for him to consider "peoe sleep at night" youtu.be/OX01bVV2h-I?...youtu.beThe 1984 Jerry Lewis Telethon Part 2 of 2YouTube video by thetelethonchannel 110

Adam @babyfonzie.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I'm reading this book and it's pretty entertaining but there's so many editing mistakes and typos. Even the title is weird, it doesn't get brought up til the middle of the book and that's in an offhand way that reads like he addressed it in the intro. And he means Ronin, not samurai? 100
