Today's SFF story: The Homeowner's Bride by @ayidashonibar.bsky.social. Ooh, this one was so fun. Snappy, angry, and downright romantic. I especially loved the pacing. It could have easily been twice as long, but it packs so much into its 4000 words... othersidespec.com/pieces/the-h...

This story is brilliant and it will fuck you up. One of my favourite aspects of speculative fiction is when its premise cuts to the truth in a way the "real" world (for various motivations) refuses to do. This piece does that in such a clever, devastating way.

Modi has lost it. "The govt has responded by massively increasing the security presence in the capital. Around thirty thousand police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed, internet services have been disrupted, trains to Delhi have been cancelled, metro stations and roads have been closed."

The only conversation worth having is how Black people are overpoliced & over-punished & held to different standards in all aspects of life. That there is an outrage when Black people transgress that isn’t there when their non-Black counterparts do.
