The 9th entry of my "How The Heck?" series is out! 🔒 It's all about how locks work, from ancient Egyptians nailing the design to why the perfect lock doesn't exist. It was a fun rabbit hole to go down, and challenging to get the visuals right.

Turn your website’s loading process into music. Forbes sounds surprisingly good. You could loop it and work to it. A great example of a website where someone clearly thought through every detail. We need more of that in the LLM era. blog.alena.rocks/en/artifacts...

Oops, I accidentally added type checking for code blocks in regular markdown files in addition to MDX. Ah well…
Markdown code with a TypeScript code block. The TypeScript code shows a highlighted type error and some hover information.

## Code Example

The following code has a type error!

```ts
/**
 * This is a code example.
 */
export function getNumber(): number {
  return 'This is not a number'
}
getNumber()
I know that the docs mention that we still need to use `'use client';` to a component as being a FE only component, but does it mean that React is looking into deprecating `'use client';` to `use(browser('reason'));` instead?
I had to redo the pull request in github.com/Ayc0/ayc0.gi..., but this is quite scary to see that GitHub is dropping PRs When I'm checking the commits in main, I do not see at all the previous PR: it should have appeared between #303 and #305 (as it was PR #304)
The list of commits on main lists:
- update pnpm to 11.10.0 (#306)
- update prettier (#305)
- Increase sessionReplaySampleRate to 100 (#303)
- update domain name to ayc0.dev instead of ayc0.github.io (#302)
I just merged a PR in one of my repositories (see github.com/Ayc0/ayc0.gi...). But, the merge commit doesn't appear in main. And when checking the exact commit (github.com/Ayc0/ayc0.gi...), it says that it doesn't belong to any branch on this repository. Like what????
Pull request #304 is merged into the commit e7c2058 into mainThe commit coming from the merged pull request is marked as "This commit does not belong to any branch on this repository, and may belong to a fork outside of the repository."
The only thing that they are saying is that **if** we can find other solutions that are more eco friendly, we should **prioritize** them before AC. Just "AC is bad"
000
Ayc0 @ayc0.dev · 01/07/2026
I also think that everyone agrees here. If temperatures are too high and if there is no other way to cool down, having an AC allows you to be able to bear this, or even just to survive. But same, everyone agrees here. Idk if there are many europeans that are saying the opposite
Extreme humidity in the air? Who said anything about it?
000
Ayc0 @ayc0.dev · 01/07/2026
No one is saying this. People are saying that it's bad for the environment (factually true), so it shouldn't be used as a systemic way to "fix" heat waves. And investing time & money into better insolations, trees, etc. would do better **long term** than small individual fixes (aka ACs)
It’s still the same: no semantic guarantee, only a performance improvement, your code should work exactly the same when useMemo is removed. If anything, offscreen rendering (<Activity>) will lead to more memos being thrown away.
The new docs, even say: “React will return the same value again if the dependencies have not changed since the last render” Does it mean that going forward, React will 100% treat dependencies as exact and only re-compute useMemo when they changed, but not otherwise?
@react.dev in the old docs for useMemo (legacy.reactjs.org/docs/hooks-r...), you could read: > In the future, React may choose to “forget” some previously memoized values and recalculate them on next render But I can’t find any similar mentions of this in the new ones in react.dev/reference/re...
