This charmer and her husband have just been sent to prison for racially abusing a Filipino nurse. Such a shame, as she would have been a brilliant Reform candidate.

💥 Well how about that. After years of Brexiteers saying we had to leave the EU to avoid being forced into a European army… … it turns out that Brits are fine with the idea. With the UK explicitly included. A plurality of Tory voters support it - and even a fair chunk of Reform. How times change…

We need to change the way of things. The world is in such a precarious state, we have to declare our allegiance to what is right, not to what is traditionally expected of us. We need to immediately realign ourselves to our European neighbours & call out the vile, tawdry dealings of Trumps America.

That means revenue support. Which needs to be raised from somewhere. Parking charges is one option, fuel duty another. Unfortunately, most people living in the countryside think both are a fundamental abuse of their human rights. So, no buses then.

You know what? The EU & UK should put tariffs on US goods (from red states) in solidarity with Canada and Mexico. Rather than watching others get bullied and waiting our turn - we should unify against this bullying until the bully drops that behaviour.

Undoubtedly. But brexit damaged both the UK and the EU overall (the UK way more of course), and both would benefit (the UK more of course) by rebuilding closer links again.

That's a valid point but the member states also still remember and appreciate how UK civil servants helped draft, negotiate and achieve consensus on EU directives between differing views across the block. So we are also missed. It was Johnson, Frost and his ilk that ruined everything.

Outside London, bus revenue support is on a shoestring compared to rest of Europe. It just isn't considered a priority, at either a national or local level. One solution would be to increase and ringfence parking charges to pay for it, but motorists think they're discriminated against (they're not).

Well done for mentioning the P word. No one seems to want to discuss it. There should be no such thing as free parking. Free parking = zero bus passengers. Ringfence the revenue from parking charges & the fuel duty escalator for subsidising public transport.

Need to mention parking. No one wants to talk about parking. Parking management, restraint, charging. At both ends of the trip, including how to design out the risk of residential parking overspill. Otherwise people will still reach for their car keys, even for very short distances.
