Concept I wanted to work into Rings of Grass (archiveofourown.org/works/63174367) but could not figure out how to #cheesewong

The first page of a 4 page comic depicting John Cheese and David Wong from John Dies at the End. John is in a hospital bed, and Dave stands next to it.
In the first panel, John, not looking at Dave, says, "Why would you stay? You don't have any obligation to me."
In the second panel, he looks at Dave (looking at the viewer as well), and says, "Not like he did."
In the third panel Dave is silent, looking slightly surprised. In the fourth he looks down, pensive, and says, "I mean... I've got all his memories. He wouldn't know what to do without you."
The fifth and sixth panels are small, the fifth being just Dave's eye, and the sixth his hands together. His right hand twists the engagement ring worn on his left. Between the panels his speech finishes with, "Guess I don't, either."
The seventh panel is John still laying in bed, staring at Dave with a slight frown on his face.
In the eight panel, half of his face is seen as he smirks and snickers.

The second page of four.
In the first panel, Dave is staring down, looking baffled. John, off panel, is speaking to him: "You had the chance to reinvent yourself and you're still gay? Couldn't be me."
In the second panel, John is grinning up at him, a little meanly. Dave says, "Oh, fuck you."
In the third panel we see their hands—Dave's left, John's right. Dave's hand rests on the railing beside the bed. John's rests on the bedding itself. In the fourth panel he reaches for Dave's hand and says, "When Korrok made you..." In the fifth panel, he holds Dave's hand in both his own, his thumb resting on Dave's engagement ring. John finishes his sentence: "...Did he make this, too?"
The sixth and seventh panels are small and stacked on top of each other. One is of Dave's eye, shocked, and the second is a close up of the ring, showing the black band with a square cut emerald embedded in it. Dave says, "Uh— I don't—"
The eighth panel is a flashback, depicting the Human Dave's hand, wearing the engagement ring. Dave continues, "...No, he didn't."
Bridging the gap between the eighth and ninth panels, Dave continues, "I must have taken it, when he..." The ninth panel depicts him removing the ring from the corpse's hand.
The tenth panel depicts Dave looking back, nervously. Behind him in a black space is a doodle of Monster Dave, covered in blood, holding a pistol in one hand and the ring in the other. Dave mumbles, "When I...." He cannot make himself say what he did to Human Dave.

The third page of four.
In the first panel, John stares silently down, looking upset. In the second, only his eye is shown, angry now.
The third panel is black, with a speech bubble in its middle. John says, "Take it off."
In the fourth panel, Dave looks confused and begins to say "What?" but John interrupts him to say, "It's not yours."
In the fifth panel, John glares hatefully at Monster Dave. "Take it off."
The sixth through ninth panels are silent, and decrease in size.
In the sixth panel, Dave looks shocked. He is slightly too wide to fit in frame and the panel is centered on his face.
In the seventh panel, Dave looks down at his hand, an upset expression on his face as he realizes John is right—this ring isn't his, even if he loves John just as Human Dave did.
In the eighth panel, he takes it off, looking down. It seems like his eyes are closed, like he can't bring himself to watch the ring being removed.
In the ninth panel, we see only his hand, the ring pinched delicately between his fingers.

The final of four pages.
In the first panel, Dave's hand hovers, closed, over John's outstretched palm. The edges are vignetted with scribbled lines.
In the second panel, Dave opens his hand, letting the ring fall into John's. The vignette dissipates.
In the third panel, John holds the ring before himself, in dramatic foreshortening. His frowning face can be seen inside the ring.
In the fourth panel, the same framing, but he's put the ring down. Off-panel, Dave says, "...That's it, then?"
In the fifth panel, the speech bubble from the fourth leads to his mouth. He's looking away from John, tears in his eyes, and trembling as he tries not to cry.
The sixth, seventh, and eighth panels are stacked on top of each other, small. The sixth is John's eye, glaring at Dave. All its angles and lines are sharp, including his pupil.
The seventh is Dave's eye, tears starting to overflow.
The eighth panel is John's eye again, sad now. The edges have softened and his pupil has dilated.
In the ninth and final panel, John lays in the hospital bed, hand holding the ring over his heart. Dave stands beside the bed, wiping at his eyes. John says, "I'll give it back when—if—I trust you again."

First time I'm customizing some boots, gonna be adding more punk lyrics&logos but I had to start with my favorite Against Me! song tbh These are just for me (all my first times are, fuckups are inevitable and I won't sell those lol) but in future I'd love to do more
