Please, for the love of any god,
Take these simmering months from me.
The sweltering sweat soaking my bones,
In swamps of regret and supplication,
To a deity neither made of me,
Nor for me,
Yet ever demanding.
Offerings at the alter of the Equinox,
I cannot sleep unless it is cold.
