Jade: We’ve sometimes wondered if finally being on proper HRT has caused some issues with our system. Between that and the stress of this past summer, it’s felt like we were all jumbled up and now we’re starting to feel a bit more solid again.

We loved playing Elden Ring…admittedly, not a game that necessarily catered to us, but it was fun. We would never have thought Pratchett would be something we’d still be reading after 30 years, but for one chance book. The Hellaverse? Heaven forfend! That isn’t our style, except it turned out to be.

Angel: Customers appreciate their orders being neat, and as within the range of 0.5 above or 0.2 below regarding any cuts. Cleaning the slicers is something that has to be done often, as well. It sounds like she’s lazy and doesn’t care. We worked the deli at Winn Dixie a while ago. We get it.

Jade: YouTube needs to just get rid of auto dub. Sorry that we listen to music in four languages. While we’re not great at speaking other languages, we love listening to the different versions. Hellfire and brimstone, we‘ve listened to Hazbin in Spanish, German and French.

Jade: We don’t know enough about C.S. Lewis other than he was a good friend of Tolkien. Our first exposure to BL that we actually enjoyed (our body’’s mom forced us to watch some obscure show with a gay main lead) was The Last Herald-Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey.

She walked down the road. The territory wasn’t hers, yet, but no one dared to attack her. She was an Overlord, and one of the fastest rising and most powerful in Hell. Still, the place she was looking for hadn’t changed much except for a couple of teenage sinners standing near the entrance. As she turned the corner into the alley, one of them said “You don’t want to go down there, miss.”
She stopped and smiled at the speaker, who was shorter than his friends and had a vaguely eel-like look to him. “And why not?”
”The monster’ll get ya,” a slightly taller one said. The girl looked a bit like a tall wolf.
”There doesn’t appear to be anyone down there.”
”She’s hiding somewhere. Maybe up above. People end up dead who go down there,” the first one said.
”I’m an overlord, I’m sure I can fight off one monster.”
The wolf-girl looked nervous. “They say she can tear your soul apart.”
”And drinks your bones,” eel-boy said.
”You know, you three look like you could use jobs.” When they started to fuss, she held up her hand. “I’m Rosie, the Mayor of Cannibal Town. I don’t insist on anyone who works for me eat sinners, but if you’re interest in some place nice to live, food regularly, and even steady employment, go to the Emporium and tell Clarita that I sent you.” Before they could object, she walked down the alley.

Tolkien also never discouraged queer readings of his works. He had queer friends he supported. Add in that both men tackled serious ideas like trauma, economic inequality, injustice, and the evil that people do to each other. Meanwhile, Rowling never really did much about any of those things.

Meanwhile, Terry Pratchett accidentally gave us a trans icon in Cheery Littlebottom, and he embraced that. He loved that trans people saw themselves in her. Tolkien, who is in many ways the Father of Modern Fantasy, corrected his own use of stereotypes over time, and when people pointed them out.

Jade: So, to say something blunt and HP related…Rowling is and has always been a coward. She waited until the series ended to tell us Dumbledore was gay. She never changed or apologized for her many obvious stereotypes and racist/antisemitic tropes. She never had any courage to do anything risky.

Jade: What if Vox and Velvette’s powers rely heavily on a tiny bit of someone’s soul being theirs? What if, by agreeing to the EULA that no one ever reads, they own, say, 0.1% of someone’s soul? Yes, it’s tied to approval, but it would be a great way to create a lot of power.
