Holy shit, you guys, the Loring Greenway got a little TLC! I know it doesn't look like much, but it was a massive improvement to ride on.

Looking at this graph, I thought, St Paul doesn't look as bad as I would expect. Then I looked at the paper and this table is enlightening. Among Midwestern cities studied, StP issued the fewest permits per 100k and had the longest total development time. Both by a good margin.

Lol this is frighteningly dead on. I have lived in Minneapolis for 17 years, grew up in Chicagoland (where my dad grew up), and my mom is from the Milwaukee area. So uh, yeah.

Mr. McHale could stand to read something about the building of the transcontinental railways, because I think he's right, just not in the way he thinks.
“This data center buildout, in scale and dollars, has been compared to building the transcontinental railroad,” said Jonathan McHale, digital policy chief at the Computer and Communications Industry Association, which counts major tech companies such as Amazon, Google and Meta as members.

Just two more weeks bro, two more weeks of bombing and they'll surrender
There are, roughly, three camps of ideas for what the U.S. should do — all of which seem grounded more in hope than reality:

One camp consists of hawks who want to ramp up military and other pressure on Tehran. This group’s suggestions include having the U.S. take over Iran’s Kharg Island, a key node of its oil production; green-lighting more Israeli killings of Iranian leaders; getting the United Arab Emirates to seize three islands over which it has a dispute with Iran; and arming ethnic groups across Iran. Some say another 14 days of U.S. bombing should be enough.

Hell yeah! Almost seven years after Theodore Ferrara was killed by a driver on Lyndale, and we started advocating for serious change, we got there. It's not a perfect design (there are a lot of things I'd do differently), but it's light-years better than the 2019 status quo.

This chart is really something. And the stuff about A-pillar visibility is something I've noticed anecdotally, but the data seems to back it up. They don't go into it but chonky C-pillars and tiny high rear windows also are low speed back over incidents more likely, I'm sure

This is what I've been telling people for years. Uptown is in a transition, as a real estate person says later in the article, from a destination to an area focused on local residents. And transitions are painful! But necessary
Taken together, today’s Uptown is in the middle of a reboot, where residents, developers and business owners all depend on one another to determine what comes next for the neighborhood.
