After work which bike ride.

If a person were to count numbers at a rate of one number per second, it would require them to count for about 11.5 days straight without sleeping or taking any breaks! If you counted one number per second without stopping, it would take about 31.7 years to count to one billion.

There's a problem with how easy it is to say huge numbers out loud. If only it took a thousand times longer to say a billionaire rather than a millionaire people might understand the difference.

Yesterday's #bike #ride in #Devon. A badly timed road closure meant I went up Haldon hills 3 times. www.komoot.com/tour/3214932...

I found my way into these excellent tomes after visiting Shropshire often enough to know many of the scenes in Locusts, and then camping trips in Wales made me know where the crabs were coming ashore. Never got references to Mid Wales from Spielberg. Who was, let's face it, missing a trick.

Our number system and the English language words we use for numbers doesn't help. It takes 11 days to count to 1 million at 1-second intervals, to count to 1 billion (a very similar sounding word, takes 32 YEARS. The difference between Millionaires and Billionaires is similarly vast.

If I'd been on the train for longer than half an hour, I could have asked, but it didn't work short-term. Its the system that's at fault. Insisting you book your bike should give you priority over unbooked suitcases, but alas, it doesn't.

Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy. This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis. 44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.

Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..

I can't believe that she believes the stuff she's coming out with. Labour and Shabana's current position works on the assumption that there are so may racists in the UK that we have to pander to them. We won't. She knows she is lying about your motives but says it cause she and her party are scared.

Alex's mom on his 38th birthday.

Today should be your 38th birthday..
When you lose your son you lose more than a child you lose a piece of your heart and your joy. Life is forever altered, and nothing can ever fill that space. Yet in my soul, he remains, my precious boy, forever loved. His laughter, his smile, and his love are woven into who I am. My love for him will never fade. Yor are my pride and my joy - you've made a change that cannot be broken..

So I know this has been a difficult week, but I think we should stick with the prime minister, support him. He admits he’s made a bad mistake here. He has apologised for it, and I’m sure he will learn from that going forward.

And I also think it is not good for the country to change its prime minister every 18 months or two years is leading to chaos and uncertainty, economically, politically and reputationally around the world.
