Oh, that's too bad! And somewhat troubling. Last year we had a lot of drought so the leaves were falling before turning, but this year has been Very Wet, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I started going to do weights this summer, with my older son while he was back from uni. I figure as I’m crossing that age 50 threshold, strength and mobility really need my attention. I wouldn’t say it’s fun, exactly, but I find it perfectly pleasant, and I like feeling stronger. Enjoy!

I used to have a rule on my website that if eg. Edward's expulsion of Jews was important enough to mention on the page on medieval Judaism, then it had to also be on Edward's page. This rule really changed the tone of a lot of pages, I think very much for the better.

Ah yes, I watched that through Wombat’s eyes, heartbreaking. I honestly think that the football teams are even more closely tied to their communities than the baseball teams here (at least the newer ones), much as we love our teams.

Yes, I know the Wimbledon story through John Green, actually. Here it depends—with the Expos, the team moved to Washington, I think some fans kept supporting them for a few years while they knew the players, but after that they basically no longer had a “natural” team to support.

It's on a little lake off a river that flows into the Ottawa river. The region is known as the Pontiac. About 2 hours northwest of Ottawa. It's my favourite place in the world.

Listening to the last game of the #Bluejays season. I only realised this year that I’m the same age as the team, even though I’ve been following them as long as I can remember. It’s added an extra layer of fun to listening to the games this summer—love this team even when things don’t go great. 🩵💙

I passed a little bird clinging to the stonework of a building just a foot off the ground on my walk at lunch. Not sure if it was exhausted from migrating or cold and trying to warm up in the sun (it was only 13°C even at noon today) but it wasn’t moving at all. My app says it’s a Tennessee Warbler.

Like, I’m not saying that it’s not a problem that your academic work was used without credit. But many people have been (loudly!) shouting about how these systems were already violating copyright, using work without credit, etc. and you still went ahead and used it for your work.
