Well, the lesson they took from IV was “Star Trek needs to be funny!” so they shoehorned a bunch of bad jokes into V - a story that needed a much more serious treatment if it was going to work. The results were so disastrous that they never tried it again!

I tried to see Mask of the Phantasm when it came out. Went to the theater and bought a ticket but the theater played A Perfect World instead. Tried to get them to show the right movie but they claimed that they couldn’t stop a movie in progress and instead gave me a gift certificate.
