A lot of people are asking me how Nathan Cofnas was hired, UGent professor Bouke de Vries invited him to UGent. Bourke and Cofnas are part of the same global network to mainstream eugenics and far right academics. Of course funded by Peter Thiel and other rich far right activists.

The Autistic Companion: "I appreciate how clearly you lay out the ecosystemic reality Autistic people live in. As someone who spent decades in the military and later in the medical field, I saw firsthand how neuronormativity shapes entire systems long before I had language for it. What you describe about environments, power, and pathologisation matches what many of us have lived without ever being offered accommodations. My own work focuses on the same idea you highlight here — that understanding and autonomy often do more for our wellbeing than any attempt to ‘fix’ us. Your framing gives people a way to see what many of us have had to navigate quietly for most of our lives"

Dear Autism in Adulthood: you're the most paywalled (inaccessible) autism journal. You finally post an open access paper. Many hours later you make it disappear, without any explanation. It has not come back. The paper's DOI exists but you have erased the paper. This is neurodiversity affirmative?

What will happen when Switzerland will have 10 millions inhabitants without immigrants. This is an important question. They will come after the next minority. No doubt. They did it in the past with the children, the disabled.

Autistrain @autistrain.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
The "10 millions" initiative shifts the focus on immigrant. But, it's straight malthusianism and eugenics. It's about regulating the population of the poorer. It won't stop them to be capitalist, easing the market, lowering taxes for the richer. This initiative is about immigrants.

Municipalities paid a one way ticket to the Americas to the poorer. Later at the end of the 19th century and until the end Children of single mothers or of poor families were forcibly placed in families and institutions. Disabled were sterilized. The list goes on.

Switzerland has a long history of malthusianism and eugenic. The country didn't wait a long time to embrace these ideologies. The Confederation controled the population for decades starting in the 18th century until the 1980's.

Many against the initiative are saying that these arguments are here to divert people about the real reason, immigration. These people are wrong. The arguments about ecology, sustainability are not here to mask. They are real argument, and worse than they look like.

Autistrain @autistrain.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
Switzerland is voting about limiting the population. The limit would be set at 10 millions. No doubt that it's again an initiative against immigration from the far right. But, the main arguments are sustainability, ecology, saving the landscape, etc.

France is still deeply in psychoanalysis, and disability rights are not a things. Merge both and people see autism has the fault of the mother and no access to the diagnosis.

We have so much to learn and adapt how we see these things. People needing help mustn't be tracked. They should land on the info, anonymously, and quickly. This is a first step to help them, to build trust in institutions, have a better sexual health in our societies.

This has more to do with IT. When it comes to sexual health, only the necessary has to be given. It's a matter of confidenciality, trust. I just went on the website of a national organization about sexual health.

On autistic masking: interesting to look at it as 'autistic have something to lose when stopping to mask'. It might be part of their identity, a community, belonging.

On Uta Frith, its worth noting she's been doing this kind of thing for decades. In her 2008 book "Autism: A Very Short Introduction" she wrote that attempt to shift from a deficit to difference perspective is "peverse" and said that if you hold that perspective then the book is "not for you".

As disable and neurodivergent, will not today. Neoliberalism doesn't allow what we are experiencing. It's part of it. It just came down to the poorer classes.

Autistrain @autistrain.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
And here we are at the actual rhetoric about them. It's nothing new. It still is the same has the one at the beginning of neoliberalism. A return to nature will fix these people. If not, we have to convert them to produce. A worker at this time would not access the “natural trend”.
120
Autistrain @autistrain.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
It took a century for neoliberalism to conquer. It implies how disable, and neurodivergent, are seen in research, and generally. As the general population assume they are not productive, they can't be individuals, and so forth can't take care of themselves. This means they aren't fully human.

Autistrain @autistrain.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
With this vision, a whole new market opened. The upper class bough new “healthy” food products, new “natural” treatments, new vacation trends. All of this was part of the market, and hence capitalism. Then, economists took over it and applied it to the general economy.

Autistrain @autistrain.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
Neoliberalism was first about the health of the upper class. How would human (bourgeoisie) be healthier in this industrial complex with the urbanization, the factories, etc. Many would look at Nature, making an interpretation of Darwinism. Here began a more individual take on human health.

Autistrain @autistrain.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
I read many things about mental and physical health, research, pseudoscience, capitalism. One interesting thing is to locate the birth of neoliberalism in the second half of the 19th century, and in the health industry.

I see many autistics in messaging groups falling for neoliberal narratives around self responsability. Answers are collective. This individualistic narrative and view is one part of the issue.

I'm seeing more and more neurodiversity lite by people being against it. It's interesting how a similar trajectory is taken in neurodiversity as it was in the left.

Something i didn't have time to say is: the standard liberal neurodiversity response of *actually theyre underdiagnosed, the increase is just us getting better at recognising neurodivergence, etc.* is a dead end here as it precisely depoliticises the issue and reifies and essentialises diagnosis.
