I did a short reading from the start of my #scifi story, “Corn Scabs”, and was told it was funny & intriguing. 🤔 A divorced lobster fisherman named Al, encounters one of a race of recently landed aliens. The vegetarian aliens are taking jobs to work for food. The ousted humans call them Corn Scabs.

This HIP song was in the in-dash car CD player when I worked in the USA and would come back to Canada to visit. Now that I have been living in #Canada again for many years, it always reminds me of seeing the "last exit" signs to not go to Canada, and the red and white flags flying over the border.

No oligarchy bankrolled my wedding. My wife and I worked our asses off to pay for that shit. We did have a couple of nice friends who chipped in for more bar tab. Somehow, without any political corruption, we managed to get married and have a good time with our family and friends on 08-08-08.

I’m off to do another volunteer teaching gig. Automation, basic AI, and marketing to help people get jobs or start businesses on their own. I am the author of “Will AI Take My Job? 2” and feel like that gives me insight into which sectors are safer from automation than others.

The only thing dumber than temporarily renaming Lake Ontario (It will get changed back, eventually) is that Canadian companies are switching providers of map services away from American tech or patching them while looking for new providers. Their customers don't want "Lake America" on their maps. 👍

I only wrote 300 more words of “Corn Scabs”, story of a Nova Scotia fisherman who saves an alien from a drunken mob. They were laid off due to the alien “scabs” taking their jobs. I spent a lot of time contemplating the character arcs and motivations and if I should rename Biscuit, the dog. 🐕 📚 💙

As a recovering UI/UX Designer, I would like to say something. 😕 If your company wants to encourage use of an AI feature in your software, making it an annoying popup is the worst way to do it. EVERY DAMN APP HAS AN AI POPUP NOW. And it's annoying and I can't close them fast enough.
