9th October 2026 This wild cockatoo supervises cooking, washing up and hanging clothes out. Yesterday I was sitting in the sun and he came and sat next to me and put one foot on me. Today I gave him a piece of cheese and he sat on my knee for a little bit before heading back to the windowsill.

2nd October 2026 More rain in 24 hours than in the whole month of September. It’s spring but it’s damp, muddy and cold. We built the shed doors in the lounge room with the heater on. Meanwhile the cockatoos were digging for dandelion roots.

8th September 2026 When I was a kid, plum trees were planted in our street in Deakin (Canberra) as street trees. We’d pick the plums when they were ripe and even though they were a bit too sour to eat they made sensational jam!!!!
